I’ve been caring for animals for as long as I can remember, and caring for pets is something I genuinely love. I’ve had three dogs and cats of my own at home, and I’ve fostered dogs throughout college, giving me hands-on experience with dogs of different breeds, ages, personalities, and needs. I’ve also cared for friends’ dogs both throughout college and back home in Connecticut, providing walks, playtime, companionship, and overnight care. In addition, I’ve volunteered at animal shelters and veterinary clinics, giving me experience caring for animals in a variety of settings. I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats and understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. Whether your pet needs an energetic walk, playtime, medication, extra attention, or simply a calm and loving companion, I’ll treat them like my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for.

I offer pet sitting in your home, dog walking, and drop-in visits. I live right off the Rail Trail and have several dog friendly parks and walking areas nearby, making it easy and convenient to give dogs plenty of exercise and enrichment! I’ve walked dogs of all sizes and breeds and am comfortable adapting to each dog’s energy level, temperament, and individual needs. I also have experience administering different forms of medication to animals when needed and am comfortable following detailed care instructions and routines. I’ll always clean up after your pets, both inside and outside your home, and make sure their space is just as tidy as I found it. Most importantly, I prioritize your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness above all. I’ll make sure they receive plenty of attention, fresh water, exercise, playtime, and affection, while respecting their routine and giving them the patience and care they need to feel comfortable with me.

Melaina has walked my german shepherd and doberman for a few years and she was just the best ever! The dogs love her so much and she took such great care of them when I went on vacation. She is super friendly and outgoing and would highly recommend her!!
I highly recommend Melaina for any dog-watching or pet-sitting position. I had just gotten my puppy, Cal, and had to leave town for vacation shortly after bringing him home. Melaina immediately stepped up and watched him for an entire week while he was still a young puppy. When I came back, I was so impressed with how well she had cared for him. He had even learned how to sit and give paw, and he was happy, well-behaved, and clearly very well taken care of. Melaina was responsible, attentive, and incredibly caring with Cal, and I would confidently recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their dog.
I highly recommend my daughter as a pet sitter! She absolutely loves animals and has a natural way with both dogs and cats. She has experience fostering pets and did an amazing job providing them with the care, patience, and love they needed. She also has dogs and cats of her own at home, so she understands how important it is to treat someone’s pets like family. She is responsible, caring, attentive, and genuinely enjoys spending time with animals. I have no doubt that any dog or cat in her care would be safe, happy, and very well loved!
Melaina is one of the most driven pet lovers I’ve ever met. I’ve seriously never met someone who cares more for pets and creates genuine connections with them at ease. I have lived with her for 3 years and in that time I’ve seen her foster 2 puppies, one ended up being adopted by her family and with her help, the other found a permanent home. She is so responsible and will always adjust her schedule to ensure proper care for others. She was initially pre-vet in undergrad and while she switched her career plan to be pre-med she still has such a passion for caring for animals. She has owned multiple dogs and cats since a young age and I would recommend her a thousand times to anyone who needs some extra help with their fluffy friends!

Schedule
I currently work full-time Monday through Thursday from 7 AM–5 PM, so I’m available to give your pets plenty of attention outside of work. I’m available for early-morning walks before 6 AM, evenings after 5 PM, Fridays, and weekends. I’d love to use my free time to give your pets the walks, playtime, companionship, and care they deserve!
