I helped take care of my family dog, a medium-sized hound/beagle mix, from a young age. We grew up alongside each other, and I loved every stage of his life - especially watching how comfortable he became around our whole family throughout the years. Providing a rescue with a happy and loving home was an amazing, character building experience; it has influenced my care of my friend’s and neighbor’s pups ever since. Around the age of 12, I began to pet-sit for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and ages. One of my greatest joys with each of those dogs was figuring out how they express themselves and how I could follow suit to provide exactly what they needed. Once I moved away for college, I missed our family dog greatly, so I began to volunteer at the local county animal shelter. While it took much longer for some of those pups to warm up to me, it was a task I never gave up on. I have always loved providing a safe and comfortable place for dogs - even if it is only for a short period of time.
