Please let me know if your dog has any special needs, medications, etc. I aim to mimic their normal day as much as possible so as not to disrupt their routine. I have experience with injured and ill animals from my rescue/rehab days. I’m comfortable giving medications orally, injected, or otherwise. I am comfortable with responding to situations such as seizures. If you are working on training any behaviors I will ask for more details so I can be consistent with your training plan. Very important for me to know is if there are any triggers that cause your dog to become aggressive or if there are things I should look out for such as eating weird things or trying to run out of the door if it’s open.

Activities will be based on the animals breed, temperament, age, and ability. A typical day of care would look like feeding, cleaning/potty breaks, morning activity such as a walk or some play time. If your pup likes the hobbit life then maybe an afternoon nap but otherwise the rest of the day will include play time, physical activity, some calm and bonding time if they enjoy that. I am also a big fan of different types of enrichment and training sessions. The day will depend on what your pup’s typical day is like, what you would like me to do, and what your pups breed generally requires. I’m also a detailed note taker so that you can know exactly what is happening while you’re away (record keeping- an ingrained habit from being in the zoological field).

I have been in the animal care field for over 18 years (over 30 years if you include growing up on a farm). My paid animal care experience is as a zookeeper and curator at AZA accredited organizations. I also have many years as a volunteer for several wildlife rehabs and conservation organizations and projects. Most petsitting requests are for cats and dogs but I am also confident handling reptiles, livestock, parrots, and more. My skills list includes observation, record keeping, enrichment, training, medication administration, medical care, and more. I balance the ‘hard science’ of animal wellbeing with the ‘soft science’ of providing compassionate care and warmth. The animal care field is fantastic and the best career but it’s more than getting paid to play with animals. It’s hard work and important work as the animals in our care depend on us for all things. (Often I remark at how much better they have it than we do! Haha. Personal butler, nutritionist, chef, maid, Dr, etc). Although my focus is on animals, it’s also important to me that YOU feel comfortable and safe. I have solid customer service skills and a strong work ethic. Because of my well-rounded experience I am flexible. I can treat each request with the specialized care it requires.

Megan is the most thorough sitter we've ever had. She was extremely attentive to detail, and went above and beyond in taking care of our puppy. She even cleaned out all his toys, and left everything spotless. Plus - she's an awesome human. We can't wait to book her again!

This was our 2nd time using Megan for house and dog sitting for our two large dogs. She continues to exceed our expectations in every way! We feel so comfortable knowing that she is there! We get text updates with pictures twice a day. She asks questions to understand the dogs and how they like to be pet and played with! When we return home, the house is immaculate as if she was never there. We highly recommend Megan for your house and pet sitting needs. Megan, thank you for the excellent care that you provided!
This was our fourth sit with Megan. My two dogs love having her over. She does an incredible job of taking care of them. She gives them plenty of play time, changes their water often, works with them on the items I told her I am trying to teach them, and the nicest thing is that she documents her time with them, so it is easy to see how they are improving. One of my dogs was a covid dog and so was not socialized when she was young and the other is a rescue that is very new to our home and has separation anxiety. The attention she gives them and the work she does with them is priceless.
