Pet care experience

Your Best Friend’s 2nd Best Friend!

Hello! My name is Megan, I’ve had pets my entire life and for the past three years, I have started caring for others pets in addition to my own. I have experience caring for dogs with special needs, of all different sizes and breeds, and I can't wait to meet your pet. I became a sitter because I love animals and having a hybrid (40% home/ 60% office) job allows me more time to hang out and give love to your pet! No matter if you have an active or more laid-back friend, we are the host for you! If allowed, we can make trips to parks (on and off-leash). Our favourite place is “The Watering Bowl”, and walking the neighborhoood. I understand that Summers have higher temperatures, which is why I like to take the longest walks before the sun comes up. If your dog is less active, we can bring our activity level to where your dog is most happy and comfortable. I was about 10 or 11 years old when my family brought our first dog home. He was a Boston Terrier named, Toby. He was full of energy and always made the room light up when entering it. Toby was a sweet boy we were able to spend a wonderful 12 years with. Not only did Toby teach me about the wonders of going on walks and giving belly rubs, but he also was a gateway into the world of dogs. Through the years I have had the privilege of always being around dogs and taking care of friend’s and family’s pets while away overnight or on a week-long vacation. I understand that your pet is your family, and I know how hard it can be to leave them even when you are off doing something fun. I am responsible, creative, and I have been described as an old soul. I love meeting new people, dogs, cats, and being a part of a thriving community. When your pet is with me, they'll get lots of one on one attention, and if they would enjoy it, they are welcome to join me at my house during the workday for company.

Schedule

I am a full-time employee with a hybrid position (60% home/ 40% office) and available 7 days a week to care for your pet. I usually wake up by 4am to start the day, give a quick potty break to the pups, and then we go for a long walk around 5:30/6am. Depending on the work day, I am either in the office 8:30am-2:30pm or 10:30am-4:30/5pm. For me, it’s their stay, their way so I can adjust my schedule accordingly.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a house within a nice yard. The neighborhood has a nice loop for short/ ling distance walking and a park close by off Congress. I also have a 4-year-old Boston terrier who loves to play, so there will be lots of running around and play time staying here with us! He is very social and loves to have company, friendly to other dogs, and shares toys.

Pets

A typical day

When your pup stays with me they will have all the toys to play with and bones to chew on. I have a membership to a wonderful dog park close by (The Watering Bowl) I am within walking distance to a neighborhood park with a hiking trail, and I live in a neighborhood with great walking paths. You can guarantee your pup will not be bored.

My mission is to have your pet feel comfortable and happy. In order to do that please provide me with any information that would help me provide that. A few questions I like to ask are if your pet dog friendly, and human friendly? Do they have any bad habits like eating poop, do they become anxious with certain triggers? Do they walk slow or fast? Do they pull or chase squirrels? These types of questions give me a great understanding of your pet and their personality so that I can give them the best care.
