To make sure your dog is safe I offer: • Easy, controlled pacing: I adjust based on your dog’s energy, age, and fitness level. • Heat-conscious timing and routes: Early morning runs and shade/trails on warmer days to avoid peak heat and hot pavement. • Hydration & breaks: Water and rest breaks are always built in when needed. • Flexibility: If it’s too hot for a safe run or your dog shows signs of fatigue, I’ll switch to shorter intervals or a walk.

Dog Running for High-Energy Pups!

Pet care experience

I’m a long-distance runner and high school biology teacher with summers off and I’d love to have your dog join me for some fun, easy-paced runs! I have a background in zoology and plenty of experience with animals, including running with large dogs (90 lb+). My partner and I aren’t quite ready for our own dog yet, so I’m excited to spend time with yours and help them burn off some energy! I offer more than a standard walk—these are relaxed, steady runs designed to give your dog safe and fun exercise. This is a great fit for high-energy dogs who need a bit more than a typical stroll. Your dog’s safety and comfort always come first; I tailor every outing to the individual dog and the conditions (see safety section for details). If your dog has lots of energy and would benefit from more than a regular walk, I’d love to be a match!

Megan runs with my dog. She's very considerate and adjusts her running based on Hermione's needs. She also brings water on longer runs, which is much appreciated. Highly recommended if your dog has energy to burn!

Megan has been caring for my 90 pound male Bernese cross (Fred) for about 4 years now. She has cared for him in stints from a simple walk/run to weeks on end when I was on vacation. I have nothing but great things to say about her ability. Megan is a very active person, with running being a main hobby of hers. She often takes Fred on runs when she cares for him, which he loves and needs. He's always a few pounds leaner and a little fitter every time I come back for him! Fred can be a very stubborn boy, and he loves attention. These are just naturally attended to by Megan's personality and skills. She's been a teacher for as long as I've known her, so she's experienced in knowing when to use the stick and when to use the carrot. Fred's recall is something we constantly have to work on, but she's been very good at reinforcing it. Fred absolutely adores her; he never wants to leave her when it's time to pick him up!

Megan helped us several times with taking care of our dog Lola (rat terrier, 25 lbs) when we have been on vacation. During our time away, we were provided with updates on how she was doing and even got some photos of Lola going for a run with Megan! She is reliable and shows so much care towards Lola. We trust Megan will show the same love to the future dogs she takes care of!
