Pet care experience

Caring & compassionate.

Hello, my name is Megan. From a young age I have had a wide variety of animals. Everything from dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and rodents to aquariums and exotic reptiles. Recently I have begun working towards K9 training certification and furthering my experience with working line German Shepards. Happy to handle "difficult" dogs! 😉 At the age of 20 I adopted a rescue pitbull named Romeo, who had an extremely unfortunate start to his life. The time I spent training and rehabillitating him awakened a passion, a sense of accomplishment and love that I had never exprienced before. As Romeo aged and was no longer able to accompany me on hikes and adventures, I began fostering dogs with a local rescue organization. Romeo has since passed, but my love for nurturing lives on. Fostering rescues, watching them grow and become loving pets has been a wonderful experience. I have fostered everything including unsocialized dogs, dogs with medical needs, a blind dog, puppies and dogs with various behavioural issues. I am confident and able to handle dogs with agression issues if needed. My initial experiences with Romeo and various rescue dogs since have shown me many different issues, and I am confident that I am capable of handling nearly anything. I am a caring and compassionate lover of humans and animals alike. It brings me great joy to provide a happy and healthy environment for all. Our home is dog friendly with a dog bed in nearly every room. I have two children (boys, ages 10 and 12) who are both dog savy. Dogs are treated as a part of our family and will be loved as such. As a precaution, the kids are never left unsupervised with dogs who are visiting. I have the house set up to accomodate this, including a play room for the kids and quiet areas for the dogs. I work during the week, we can incorporate exercise in the morning before work, after work, or both if needed. I do not work on the weekends, so we hike and adventure, rain or shine! 😊 I have a friendly dog who is used to company, our house is completely dog friendly with beds and space for all. Your pet will be treated like part of our family.

Megan was amazing. Took great care of our two senior dogs on very short notice, including one dog with 3x daily medications. Our dogs were safe and loved and we appreciate Megan so much!!

Our pup was with Megan for just a couple nights while we were visiting Victoria. Megan made pick-up and drop off easy. Our pup had no complaints and seems to have gotten along well with Megan's Dog.

Megan did an amazing job watching our dog. Our dog can be very shy and anxious around new people but she settled in comfortably with Megan's family during her two night stay. Huge thank you for taking such great care of her!

Schedule

I work a government job, I come home for lunch and spend about 45 minutes walking and playing mid day, everyday. While I am home otherwise and able to care for animals, this may not be a great fit for dogs who have severe separation anxiety.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog
Children 6-12 years old
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Safety, trust & environment

While my yard is not fenced, I use a secure 30 foot lead and plenty of walks along with trips to the park down the street to ensure pets are fully cared for.

Pets

A typical day

I enjoy being outdoors, and it is always nice to have four legged company on my walks/hikes. I am willing to accommodate owner requests for specific activities based on what each dog likes.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Megan can host up to 5 pets per night
It is important for me to be aware of any food allergies or intolerances. I like to know how you typically exercise your pet, I would like to be able to provide them the same love and care they receive at home. It is also important to know how your fur baby handles being left at home.
