Home all day—good w/difficult dogs

Hi there! I’m an advertising consultant who works fully remote, which means I’m home and available to keep your pets company day and night. After traveling across Canada with our two dogs, my partner and I are now settled back in Calgary, and I’m so excited to welcome new clients again! Why book with me? Decades of experience – I grew up in a household full of dogs (my mom was a dog trainer and we were active in dog sports like flyball and agility). I’ve been pet sitting since I was 15, my very first job was actually caring for three energetic border collies! Specialized knowledge – I live with a dog who has severe separation anxiety, so I deeply understand how hard it can be to find the right sitter. I’m patient, calm, and experienced with everything from high-energy puppies to seniors needing medication or post-surgery care. Quality over quantity – For daycare/boarding, I only take one guest dog at a time (unless from the same household) to ensure everyone gets my full attention and a low-stress environment. Services I offer: House Sitting & Drop-in Visits I believe most pets are happiest in their own home while their humans are away. I’m a respectful house sitter, you’ll come back to a clean, cared-for home and a happy pet. Boarding & Daycare (limited availability) Your dog is welcome at my home if they’re comfortable with a change of scenery. We have a fenced yard for play, and Nosehill Park just steps away for walks. One of our dogs prefers his space, so gradual introductions and safe separation may be needed. Medication administration and senior care experience. Daycare at your home available (just need WiFi so I can work while keeping your pup company). What sets me apart: I know that every dog is different, and that trust is the #1 factor when leaving your pet behind. My goal is always to create a safe, calm, and happy experience so you can feel confident while you’re away. I also do pet portraits! You can see some of my work with furry clients in my gallery. Feel free to ask me for more info about that :) Whether your dog loves endless fetch, cozy couch cuddles, or just needs a companion to ease their anxiety, I’d love to be their new friend.

Megan was great with Rook again today. He's happy and tired after meeting other dogs and going for a nice walk. She sent great updates and photos too.

Megan was awesome with our big anxious boy. She was knowledgeable, calm, and confident with him and he adored her. She was good about communicating and sent some adorable pics. We definitely look forward to booking with her again. 😁

Megan took excellent care of our dog during our 1-week trip away. This was the longest we’ve been away before due to our dog’s severe separation anxiety. I was initially concerned about how our generally fearful dog would manage, but it was immediately clear she felt safe and comfortable with Megan, her partner, and pups. Megan has a very calm demeanour and her experience with dogs with all sorts of concerns was apparent. Megan communicated clearly, sent regular, concise updates/photos, and made the whole experience easy. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an experienced, compassionate, and professional dog sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

I limit dogs in my home to 1 at a time, unless they are from the same home. My dogs are crate trained, and baby gates separate the upstairs and downstairs areas of the house, so our furry friends stay separate until they are used to each other. Unless separated, dogs are able to roam around the house freely, and aren't left outside for extended periods of time, unless they're enjoying the sun. In this case, they are checked on often. We have lots of toys, all of which are designed to be chew proof, as our dog destroys everything. Our balls are oversized to prevent choking, so if your pup has a smaller mouth, we may ask you to provide something size appropriate. We try not to let dogs play with sticks, as we have seen many examples of this ending in vet visits.

Pets

A typical day

Typically we go to the park next door to throw toys for dogs who are good offleash. Otherwise, we restrict games of fetch to the back yard, or play tug in the house. Generally, we do one good walk around the neighbourhood, or explore Nosehill park, weather permitting. The rest of the day is spent chewing bones (if allowed) or lounging around with the humans.

Do they have any fears, quirks, or behavioural problems? How are they with other dogs and people? Do they enjoy chasing squirrels, rabbits, etc.? Are they allowed on furniture, can they have treats, people food, bones, etc? Do they have a favourite toy? How often do they typically like to go outside, and what is their routine at home?
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
