Pet care experience

Pawfect Companions

I have extensive lifelong experience caring for a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, farm animals, fish, and small pets. Animal care has always been a natural part of my life, beginning with my upbringing on a family farm where I developed practical, hands-on experience managing animals with very different needs, temperaments, and routines. I currently share my home with my cat, Bandit, who is friendly and comfortable around both dogs and other cats, helping visiting pets settle into a calm and welcoming environment. My background has given me strong confidence in understanding animal behaviour, recognising individual needs, and providing the structure, patience, and reassurance that helps pets feel safe and comfortable. I am experienced in feeding routines, enrichment, exercise, litter care, basic health monitoring, and adapting care for shy, energetic, elderly, or rescue animals. I also hold the following qualifications: • Level 3 Animal Care & Welfare Assistant Diploma• Level 3 Diploma in Animal Behaviour & Welfare• Level 2 Diploma in Livestock Production• Canine First Aid Certificate• Feline First Aid Certificate Alongside Rover, I also run my own pet care business, Pawfect Companions UK, where I provide reliable, attentive care tailored to each animal’s routine and personality. My work is built around creating a calm, safe, and positive experience for every pet in my care.

McKenzie was fantastic from start to finish, kept us up to date daily with how Charlie was getting on and was extremely patient with him. We can't wait to have McKenzie look after Charlie again int he future if he would be willing to. Thanks McKenzie! :)

House Sitting • Dec 21, 2025

McKenzie was truly incredible and took exceptional care of my babies, Michael and Olive. From the moment he arrived, it was clear how much genuine love and patience he had for them both. Even though Michael was unwell during the stay and spent a lot of time hiding, McKenzie never gave up on him and treated him with so much kindness, understanding, and care. He made sure I was always kept in the loop with regular updates and plenty of photos, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. It was obvious how much he adored both Olive and Michael, and how comfortable and loved they felt in his care, even on the days when Michael preferred to keep to himself. On top of taking such amazing care of my pets, McKenzie went above and beyond by keeping my home clean and tidy and even sorting out my fish tank for me, which I really appreciated. I can’t thank him enough for everything he did. Thank you so much, McKenzie! I will definitely be booking again in the future!

Schedule

I’m home most of the day, so I can give pets plenty of attention and stick closely to their normal routines. Dogs can be taken out every 0–2 hours for toilet breaks, fresh air, or short walks depending on what they’re used to. For longer walks, I follow whatever schedule the owner prefers morning, afternoon, evening, or a mix. I’m flexible and always happy to match your pet’s usual routine so they feel comfortable and settled while you’re away.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a clean, pet-friendly flat that’s fully set up for both cats and dogs. There’s no garden, which actually makes the environment much safer for cats and small pets especially because I live on a main road. For this reason, cats are kept strictly indoors at all times. There’s zero risk of escape, outdoor dangers, or wandering off. My flat is secure with: • pet-safe windows • no gaps or hazards • safe spaces for cats to hide and settle • cosy spots for relaxing • plenty of enrichment and stimulation For dogs, I take them outside regularly for toilet breaks, short outings, and longer walks based on the owner’s routine. Even without a private garden, they get consistent outdoor time, exercise, and mental stimulation, and they’re never left alone outside. I always prioritise safety, supervision, and making sure every pet feels comfortable, calm, and protected while they’re with me.

Pets

A typical day

I usually wake up around 7am, and after a shower at about 7:30, I start the morning by checking in on all the pets in my care. Everyone gets fresh water, breakfast, and some morning fuss so they start the day settled and happy. Dogs get their first toilet break or walk early on, and I follow whatever routine the owner prefers. Throughout the day I’m mostly at home, keeping the pets company and sticking closely to their normal feeding, play, and walk schedule. I do have the occasional meeting during the day, but these are usually short and planned around the pets so they’re never left for long. I also go to the gym around 8pm, but before I go I make sure everyone’s fed, settled, and has had their evening toilet break or playtime. When I get back, I do another check-in and settle everyone down for the night. The rest of the day is all about: • enrichment and play • cuddles and company • toilet breaks every 0–2 hours • keeping to each pet’s usual routine • litter tray clean-ups and regular checks for cats Your pet’s comfort and normal schedule always come first, and I plan my day around making sure they feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for from morning to evening.
