As a teenager, I became more involved in animal care through equine handling, basic dog training, and daily responsibility for feeding, exercise, and routine care. As an adult, I expanded my experience to include basic equine first aid, a deeper understanding of animal behavior, and consistent pet sitting for friends and family. I have also independently owned and cared for a cat, managing feeding, litter care, enrichment, and overall well-being. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their established routines closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and any specific care instructions. I’m attentive to pet behavior and body language, and I take a calm, patient approach to help pets feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. I’m careful to maintain a safe environment by ensuring doors, gates, and leashes are secure, keeping pets away from hazards, and respecting any household rules. I’m experienced with multiple-pet households and comfortable caring for both cats and dogs, including pets that may be shy, anxious, or need extra patience. Communication is important to me, so I provide regular updates, photos, and notes to keep owners informed. I treat every home with respect, maintain cleanliness, and aim to create a calm, familiar environment so pets feel safe, cared for, and relaxed.

I had a wonderful experience with our dog sitter McKenna! She stayed at our house for 10 days and took excellent care of my dog, Nova. McKenna is a caring and dependable pet sitter who treats every animal like her own. McKenna is a deeply compassionate person who demonstrated her attentive care for our animals at the barn while she was able to work here. She handled our horses in accordance with our standards, including being watchful of their communication and letting us know if there was something that she noticed that seemed off. I would personally trust her to care for my pets as well.
McKenna and I used to always take care of our Shih Tzu dog, Spike when we grew up. McKenna also has an adorable cat that is loved and taken care of. She shows them a lot of care and affection and is adamant about providing a thorough care routine for any pet she is responsible for.

Schedule
Pet care fits well into my daily routine. I stay active during the week with several commitments, including locally performing as a musician, taking horseback riding lessons, and attending martial arts classes. These activities are scheduled in a way that still allows for flexibility during my weekdays, so I’m able to prioritize pet care, maintain consistent routines, and adjust my schedule as needed for walks, drop-ins, or overnight care.
