I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Biology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I only take 1-2 classes a semester, and am trying to pay for my education out of pocket. Pet care can and has easily fit into my class schedule, and working more often with local folks is something I have been wanting to do for years. I love Silver City and the animals that live here, and I would love to help with animal care here since I see how much folks love their fur babies.

I live downtown in a busy area, and it has provided endless enrichment for my baby kitty cat. I live nearby multiple parks and walkable areas that I can take your puppy for some exercise. When I am in a clients home, I follow their instructions for their baby, since each one is different and have their own personalities.

Pet care experience
I have been taking care of animals since I was 8 years old. I was primarily surrounded by cats, and learned how to care for them from birth until they found their forever homes. I have also been pet sitting and house sitting in Silver City for several years, watching both cats and dogs (and even some tortoises!) for friends, family, and community members. As a cat owner and dog lover, I understand the importance of quality care and compassion that our fur babies require.

Mayteana was my roommate for a few years and she was a great help with our pets. My husband and I have nine chickens, three dogs (at the time she was living with us) and two cats. In addition to our own pets, we also took care of our friend’s cat. This cat was very overweight (18lbs) and with Maya’s help, we got her down to 11 lbs in one year. Maya played with our pets every day, keeping them active and happy. When we would go out of town, she would follow our routine for the pets down to the last detail. She is reliable and loves animals deeply.
Maya loves all animals! She works with animals in her career and as a previous coworker, I have witnessed first hand her kindness, gentleness and love toward wild and domesticated creatures alike. I have known Maya for 3+ years and she is knowledgable about animal behavior, as well as first aid; responsible and dependable. I have seen Maya interact with her cat, as well as dogs and is very calm, gentle and comfortable with them. I would highly recommend Maya as a pet caregiver for Rover.
