Safety, trust & environment

Over the past five years working through Rover and four years providing full time foster care through a rescue in NYC, I have learned so much from my experiences and organizations! I always err on the side of safety and caution and am meticulous at following owner directions. I am extremely gentle and loving with animals and believe in positive reinforcement rather than punishment. For your dogs safety, they will always be leashed while outside and I will crate (if crate is provided) if leaving them home alone is an issue! I provide necessary boundaries and stick to a fairly consistent routine.

Information May S. would like to know about your pet

Ahead of a stay of like parents to provide as much information as possible! The more the better - don’t worry about overwhelming me! Specifically, I like to know their feeding and exercise schedule in addition to any medications or treatments they require. I request that parents provide an emergency contact number as well as their vet details. Please also let me know the boundaries you set with your pet - ie are they allowed on furniture, can they eat people food, do you crate them, do they sleep in your bedroom etc? Any behavioral information is also requested. I need to know if they have any reactive tendencies - leash reactivity, prey drive, food guarding etc and if they are ok with other humans and animals!

A typical day

While dog sitting and fostering, I’ve found the keeping a pretty consistent routine is beneficial to aiding a pups transition into my care. I like to walk with my pups typically 4x per day (unless otherwise requested) varying from 15 min quick spins around the block to 45 minute exercise walks. Throughout the day I like to play with and provide lots of love and cuddles to dogs in my care! If ok with their parents, I like to wind down at night with some couch cuddles and movie time.

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is May and I’m an experienced dog sitter and foster who is currently residing in Cow Hollow. I’m currently employed full-time on weekdays but am fully remote and have time/flexibility for walking and sitting. In terms of my experience, I’ve grown up with all types of dogs, from labs to pit bulls, and love them all! Apart from owning dogs, I fostered in NYC through Hearts and Bones Rescue, caring for 10+ dogs. While living in NYC for 4 years, I was also a staff volunteer at the rescue, working with approving foster applications and volunteer events - i have a wonderful network of dog fosters, owners, and professionals to support me! Caring for and walking your dogs will not only benefit you but also will be sure to brighten my day! ** unfortunately, my new apartment has a strict no pet rule, even for short stays. I am currently unable to board, but happy to help with home stays, drop ins & walking as needed! **

This was our first experience with Rover and we're so happy to have found May. She's communicative, on time, thorough, and the pups love her. Will definitely book her again.

May is the best! Was detailed with questions and making sure she knew our pup and his routine, gave us great updates, and he was clearly so happy and cared for while we were gone. Would definitely have May watch our pup again.

May was so great with our dog June! She has the perfect balance of kindness and confidence which is exactly what we need for someone watching our stubborn pittie. We’re so glad to have found a sitter we trust with our June.
