Pet care experience

Your pets/companions deserve a pro

Hello, my name is May, and I use any pronouns. I grew up taking care of animals, and I have wanted to care, protect, treat, and defend them since I could breathe. I am a certified dog trainer and I have multiple years of professional animal care experience outside of Rover. My interests are medicine, welfare, conservation, education, and ecology. My skills are grooming, lodging, daycare, training, education, and medical care. I have even worked with dogs from k9 and search & rescue teams. I have experience caring for dog, cat, fish, turtle, chicken, guinea pig, lizard, and bird. I am a cat mother and fingers crossed a dog mom someday soon as well. I can take care of your pets/companion animals from any age, breed, or size. You name it, and I will be there for them. Common questions: What if my companion animal has a medical condition? You let me know what they need, and I can accommodate them, even if they have behavioral struggles. I am patient, understanding, and gentle. What if they need medications? No need to worry. I can administer medications via subcutaneous, transdermal, oral pills or liquids, or even instramuscular per perscription instructions. What if they are high energy? High energy animals have high activity levels, which means they require frequent exercise and attention. To accomodate these needs, I can be available for multiple daily visits, walk them, and even curate a training plan for them. Your animal family members deserve the best. They deserve a professional. Not just someone who loves them, but one who you can trust to care for them in every capacity while you're away in safe hands. My skills: ✨️ Administering medications (via any route; Oral liquid or pill, IM, SQ, Transdermal) ✨️ Grooming/Bathing ✨️ Nail Trims ✨️ Meal Prep & Feeding ✨️ Animal Behavior ✨️ Training ✨️ Medical Care

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

Keeping things fear-free as much as possible is a priority for me. I like to keep things calm, relaxing, and easy or neutral. When I meet them for the first time during the meet & greet, I wait for them to come up to me. It's what they are comfortable with. This helps everyone establish trust and familiarity. My hope is that I can be your go to whenever you need companion care. Sometimes, I use miracle tones to help with fear, it is soothing and calming for all. Wildlife or "Pet" TV is a great option to add to their environment while you are away as it helps them feel less alone and gives them something to interact with. I like to stick to a rhythm or routine. As I enter their palace, I introduce myself gently by using a high pitched soft tone and a treat. Then, I let them sniff me out before they welcome me through. Any grievances? No siree! Next, I like to start feedings and medications after activities. But, I take it at their pace. Afterwards, I will take care of cleaning & notes before my departure from their palace. What I value during my bookings: 💖Trust/Familiarity (Completing the Meet&Greet & sticking to a rhythm or routine) 💖Safety (Keeping doors locked) 💖Compassion (Always stay kind, patient & considerate) 💖Comfort (Temperature in the home, toys, beds) 💖Respect (Their boundaries and space) 💖Quality care/Ensuring all goals are met (Fulfilling all visit requirements) I will not force anything.

May was absolutely wonderful with my chickens while I was on vacation! She went above and beyond to make sure they were happy, safe, and well cared for. She even brought them a special pinecone treat to play with, sat and read to them, and went the extra mile by checking on them an additional time when we had stormy weather. 🥹🐔 It was so clear that May genuinely cared about my chickens, and knowing she was looking after them gave me such peace of mind while I was away. I came home to happy, well-loved chickens, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I would absolutely recommend May and would love to have her care for my flock again!

May was amazing! She went above and beyond with my dog Buster. She is responsible, spent quality time with my dog, was very communicative. She also has dog training experience and helped with a couple of behavior issues both working with him as well as offering great ideas and tips. I highly recommend her for any pet care and will be using her again!

Amaya did an amazing job watching my kitties. She offered to schedule a meet and greet which made us feel secure leaving our cats for a few days. She kept us updated on them and took some great pictures. I will definitely be reaching out to her again to watch the kitties!!:)

Amaya was wonderful! This was my first experience using Rover and she was so helpful and kind from helping me navigate the app to taking excellent care of Theodore and Emma. I'm always nervous to leave the cats, especially since Theo is a diabetic and requires extra care with medication, but Amaya put my mind at ease and I could actually enjoy my vacation knowing my nerds were in good hands. I can't thank her enough and hope to get the opportunity to work with her in the future.

Schedule

Rover is something I fit into my life whenever I can while I work & continue education. Some seasons are busier than others, and that's normal. Companion Care is already a part of my daily life, so these requests come as a breeze for me. I try to update my calender monthly, but if things don't look right, if your other sitter isn't available, or if you just need someone ASAP, you are always free to message me any time in the app. I try to reply as soon as possible, but sometimes I don't recieve notifications, so it may take me a few hours to reply in some instances. My calender should reflect my un-availability at minimum. If you have any questions, please message me as I am flexible and will accommodate where possible.
