Home full-time, fenced yard
My husband Shawn and I lost our sweet three legged dog, Elliot, and our snuggly cat, Cash (Elliot made it to 15 before a brain tumor finally took him, and Cash came to us with a heart condition that took him after about 8 years with us). We've both had pets for most of our lives. We travel a fair bit, so we aren't adopting any more pets for now. But we really miss having furry friends around when we are home. We are open to two dogs at once but only from the same family. Also we are unable to board dogs that we haven’t met first, so last minute requests for new dogs usually aren’t possible. But happy to accommodate repeat clients whenever we can. We both work from home all day, every day, so your sweet "kids" will get lots of attention from us, and that also means we're very flexible with schedules. We have a good sized fenced yard, and we're looking forward to using walks with visiting dogs as an excuse to take frequent work breaks throughout the day, although only when it's cool enough. We're aware that often the summer sidewalks are too hot for your dogs paw pads. Our furry guests will be able to go out in the grass to do their business as often as they need to, and otherwise will stay cool inside the house with us.

Cannot say enough about Maura and Shawn. Hazel tends to be a nervous nelly. and she was great for them but the proof when I picked her up is was like she had been there forever. I highly recommend them and appreciate their attention to detail.
Sophie is always very excited to stay with Maura and Shawn! They are extremely attentive and play a lot of fetch with her. Being out of the country is much more relaxed when she in their care. Thank you again for taking such great care of my girl!

Schedule
We both work from home so your dog will get plenty of attention. We also take frequent work breaks for walks around our residential neighborhood.

Safety, trust & environment
We have a fenced yard so there's plenty of outdoor space for your dog. It's also a residential neighborhood with sidewalks and lots of greenbelt trails, and we're always looking for excuses to break from work, so 2+ walks per day, plus play time in the yard, is typically the minimum.
A typical day
When temperatures and sidewalks are cool enough, we take nice long walks and hikes on the many trails in our neighborhood. We also typically have a supply of balls on hand for playing in the yard.

- We are most open to any dog who is 100% house trained, has basic manners, doesn't chew or destroy things, and listens to basic commands (using the floor as a bathroom, excessive barking, and destruction of property are the only non-negotiables I can think of). We are available all day so your dog will have access to the outdoors when necessary. Therefore "accidents" shouldn't be a problem. We understand that some dogs are anxious in a new place and we will be sensitive to that. We like to say that the dogs aren't allowed on the furniture. That's more of a "goal" than a rule. ;-) We appreciate when you bring your dog's bed(s)/crate so they are as comfortable as possible when they are here with us. We'll do everything we can to make your fur baby comfortable.
