Pet care experience

Retired Explsive Detectn K9 Handler

I have owned, loved and trained dogs as far back as I can remember. When I was younger, I mostly owned smaller dogs. I learned how to care for different and larger breeds as I grew up and gained more experience. I have worked as an Explosive Detection K-9 Handler for the Transportation Security Administration at LAX. I have competed and titled in such sports as Schutzhund, French Ring, PSA, Obedience, Rally, Agility, Barn Hunt, Scentwork, Herding, Lure Coursing, Farm Dog Certification, and Temperament Tests. I have also I’ve trained dogs in scent discrimination to locate explosives and bed bugs, For pet owners I can provide home manners, socialization, behavior modification, or training for particular dog sports. I have experience successfully training dogs of all different ages, breeds, sexes and temperaments—and I can do the same for your pup too! I stand out from other pet professionals due to my experience, talent and extensive knowledge. I also understand that dog training is constantly evolving—there is always something new to learn and I keep that in mind with every dog I meet. I provide excellent customer service to my clients by fixing the problems they can’t seem to crack. I train the owners and well as the dogs, and once my clients have the right training info in their personal tool box, they can mold their dog into an ideal companion or family dog. I send photos and videos to my clients during their dog’s stay with me and keep them updated on their pup’s progress. They are kept in the know and are happy to see firsthand that their dog is safe, is learning, and is most importantly, having a good time. I have experience in whelping puppies and litters to taking around the clock care to terminally ill cancer patients. Whatever my clients need, I deliver. I take as much time as it needs with my clients, until he or she fully understands how to continue the work on their own. I retired from my job at LAX and spend most of my time training and working with dogs. It’s a 24/7 business and I enjoy every experience. Send me a message—I look forward to meeting you!

I had a highly unprofessional experience with Matthew and cannot recommend his services. As a first-time client with him, I requested daily photo updates to ensure my dog was settling in well. When I followed up on the second day, Matthew responded defensively, stating he only sends photo updates every other day and I didn’t need to bother asking him everyday. When I politely explained that I preferred daily check-in photos for peace of mind, he became incredibly dismissive and disrespectful, telling me neither I nor my dog were special & to not tell him how to run his business. (I have the screenshots to prove this) Due to his hostile communication and lack of empathy, I cut the stay 2 days short and arranged for my dog to be picked up early. If you view your pet as family and expect basic courtesy, I suggest booking elsewhere as this seems purely transactional for him. Matthew, you were entirely unprofessional. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of respect shown.

Matt is great! He takes the time to get to know you and understand your dog, not just doggy sit. I love knowing that Romo has a structured environment and is going to be well taken care of :)

Matthew & Patricia were absolutely wonderful! Family trips can be really stressful when you have 3 dogs with all different temperaments, and energy levels. I feel like this was the perfect match for them. He sent me photo updates, and kept me informed throughout their stay. His experience with dogs was also extremely helpful when I had questions about how to correct bad behavior at home. When we book another trip I will definitely be booking with them again. Thank you for taking such great care of our furry family🙏🏻

Matt was available for a last minute booking so we needed a sitter but my dog came home smelling like urine(had to give him a bath), he drank 32 ounces of water in a span of 60 seconds upon seeing his bowl(had to refill it), and was visibly shaking. Have not had this experience with other sitters.

Matt was great. I could immediately sense his intuition for each of my dogs. I’ll certainly be looking to use Matt and Pat again in the future.

A typical day

I have a very large backyard suitable for training sessions, dog play and relaxing. I also have multiple large kennels outside, as well as indoor crates. At times, multiple dogs may be at my house during their 2 – 3 week training stay. I enjoy taking the dogs out walking around the local neighborhood, park and hiking trails. I am also open to additional training at your home, depending on what your specific needs are. I live in Rialto on a quiet street with friendly neighbors. Our time together will be a mix of training and learning, as well as FUN!
