My cat is indoor only, so I'm very conscious of opening and closing doors. If I need to leave her alone for an extended period of time, I ensure that she has adequate food and water as well as a clean litter box.

I love playing fetch with dogs and using stick toys with cats. I've found that providing them an outlet to release their pent-up energy fosters healthy behaviors.

My parents have a 10-year-old husky who I help care for when I'm visiting them. I've taken her on long walks and stayed with her alone overnight.
