PhD in Animal Behavior

Hi! My name is Matt, and I love dogs. I'm the happy owner of two well-behaved dogs (both standard poodle) and have kept dogs since I was a kid. As a passionate animal enthusiast, I've spent my life learning about as many different creatures as possible and have worked with pets, livestock, and exotic species in a variety of contexts. I received my PhD in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota, which allowed me to engage in research and teaching which focused on animal behavior and welfare. I'd love to spend some of my time walking with, playing with, or training your pets. I am happy to incorporate aspects of positive reinforcement and bridge training into any walk or visit!

Highly recommend Matthew for any pet-related needs! He always goes above and beyond to help my highly anxious dog, constantly coming up with new ways to make things easier and more comfortable for her. You can tell how much he genuinely cares about the animals he works with!

You can’t find a better person to care for your pets than Matt! He is extremely knowledgeable about animal welfare and takes excellent care of his own animals. He makes sure he understands your routines and expectations, pays close attention to animal cues, and proactively communicates so you know what is happening. Matt not only cared for my dogs and cat, he noticed things and made suggestions that helped me be a better pet parent.

Information on temperament is a must - does your dog do well with other dogs? What about humans? Are there issues with certain types, sizes, genders, etc. Is your dog an escape artist? Is it reactive to certain sounds, environments, etc.? What activities does your dog enjoy? What is their energy level? What behaviors are you working to train? What about behaviors you'd like to work on eliminating?
