Dog Lover Who Works From Home

Hi, I’m Matt. I love dogs and enjoy giving them a calm, comfortable place to stay while their owners are away. I grew up with dogs and have often helped care for my parents’ and sister’s dogs, so I know how important it is to have someone dependable who treats your dog like part of the family. I work from home in health IT consulting, which allows me to be present during the day for walks, potty breaks, playtime, and general companionship. I only take one client at a time, so your dog will get plenty of individual attention and will not be in a crowded boarding environment. I live in a quiet, owner-occupied apartment in West Chester with no children and no other pets. My home is best for small or mid-sized dogs who are comfortable in an apartment setting. While I do not have a fenced yard, I take dogs out for supervised leash walks, and the neighborhood has grassy areas and light local traffic. I’m happy to provide daily exercise, potty breaks every 2–4 hours, and oral medication administration if needed. Dogs are allowed on the furniture and bed if that is what they are used to at home. For safety and comfort, I always like to do a meet and greet before confirming a stay to make sure it is a good fit for your dog, your expectations, and my home environment. I can also provide recommendations/references from people whose dogs I have cared for. I currently accept dogs over 1 year old, crate-trained dogs only, and no females in heat. I’m especially a good fit for dogs who do well in a quieter home and enjoy walks, attention, and a predictable routine. Overnight boarding is based on Rover’s 24-hour booking period. I’m always happy to clarify drop-off and pick-up timing before a stay so there are no surprises. I look forward to helping your dog feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while you’re away.

Matthew took fantastic care of our dog Swinky! He made sure to get all the information from us to take good care of our dog. He also made Swinky feel relaxed and comfortable during the week that Matthew looked after him.

Schedule

Pet care fits well into my daily routine because I work from home in health IT consulting and have flexibility throughout the day. I’m usually home during the workday, which allows me to provide regular attention, potty breaks, walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. During a typical day, I can take dogs out for potty breaks every 2–4 hours and provide walks or exercise based on the dog’s needs, energy level, and the weather. I also build in time for play, rest, and keeping the dog comfortable in a calm home environment. Because I only take one client at a time, I’m able to keep the schedule focused on that dog’s normal routine as much as possible. I ask owners to share feeding times, walk preferences, medication needs, crate routines, and any special instructions so I can keep their dog’s care consistent and predictable while they are away.

Safety, trust & environment

I provide a calm, safe, and attentive environment for dogs in my home. I live in a quiet, owner-occupied apartment with no children and no other pets, and I only take one client at a time so each dog receives individual attention. Before confirming a stay, I always prefer to do a meet and greet to make sure your dog is comfortable with me, my home, and the overall environment. I want both the owner and the dog to feel confident that it is a good fit. During a stay, I follow the owner’s care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medication needs, crate routines, walking preferences, and any behavioral or comfort needs. I provide regular potty breaks every 2–4 hours, supervised leashed walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. Since I work from home, I am usually able to give dogs attention and supervision during the day. Dogs are welcome on furniture and the bed if that matches their routine at home. I do not have a fenced yard, so all outdoor time is supervised and on leash. My neighborhood has grassy areas and light local traffic, which makes it a good setting for regular walks. For safety and comfort, I currently accept dogs over 1 year old, crate-trained dogs only, and no females in heat. I can also provide oral medication administration when needed. I’m happy to send updates and photos so owners know their dog is safe, comfortable, and well cared for while they are away.

A typical day

I will walk the dog around my neighborhood. If the weather is nice, I would take the dog to East Goshen Park or one of the surrounding parks within 10 minutes that are dog-friendly. If the dog likes to be rubbed or play games, I would give it some attention as necessary in the morning or evening.

I would want to know its daily routine including when it eats, how much water it drinks, when it needs to be let out including if it needs daily exercise, and if it has any special needs (e.g. medications). It would also be helpful to know how well it gets along with other dogs if I need to walk it or how friendly it is with strange people.
