I work from home with a pretty flexible schedule, so I’m around a lot of the time. My girlfriend is a nanny, so she’s usually home by the afternoon. Between the two of us, there’s always someone here to hang out with the dogs and keep things chill. It works out great, especially since we can both give them attention whenever they need it.

When I care for pets, whether it’s in their home or mine, it really depends on the dog’s personality and needs. Some dogs might need a bit more quiet time, while others are all about play and adventure. Either way, my focus is always on making sure they’re happy and comfortable. I give them the attention they need—whether it’s playtime, walks, or just cuddles. It’s all about making sure they’re having fun and feeling cared for, no matter where they are.

A typical day
A typical day with the dogs starts with a morning walk. Betty, the Jug, doesn’t need a long walk, so we usually do a quick loop around the block with both dogs. After that, I drop Betty back home and head out again for a longer walk with Nala. Once we’re back, they get their breakfast, then just chill around the house, playing with their toys or napping. Lunchtime rolls around, so I let them outside for a bit of fresh air and playtime. Later in the afternoon, we repeat the walk routine, and after their tea, it’s time to wind down. They both love curling up on the sofa for some chill time with me to finish the day.

Best of Paws - Reliable Dog Care
Pet care experience
Dogs have always been a big part of my life. Nala and Betty aren’t here as often these days, but I still really value the time I get with them. Whether it’s a steady walk through the woods or a quiet weekend catch-up, it’s always good to have that familiar energy around. Spending time with them is a reminder of why I do what I do at Best of Paws — reliable dog care, where dogs are treated like family.
Reviews

Kira absolutely adored her stay with Matthew and I felt very happy to leave her with him. I got photos and messages during the day to show me Kira having a snooze and a walk which was lovely. I would highly recommend Matthew to other dog owners.

Matthew was friendly, respectful and punctual and from the moment we met him we knew he would be a great sitter for our dogs. We were visiting the Forest of Dean and wanted a day to ourselves and Matthew was the perfect way for that to happen. We had total confidence our pups were not only well-looked after but also provided with cuddles and fun. 100% recommended.

I was very pleased with the care Maisey received. Matthew kept me updated with photos and messages. I would have no hesitation in using Matthew again.

Matt was absolutely brilliant with our 8 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He looked after Lola for 5 days whilst we were away and I couldn’t recommend his services any more. We had a meet and greet beforehand which instantly put us at ease, with the questions Matt was asking. Matt sent though regular updates with photos to show what Lola had been getting up to and how much she’d decided to sleep! These were great to receive whilst we were the other side of the Atlantic! I have to agree with a previous comment on Matt’s profile; we now think we’re Lola’s second favourite humans! Matt left the house in a spotless condition and you genuinely couldn’t even tell anyone had been there. Thanks again Matt!
