I am confident caring for pets of different ages, sizes, and temperaments, including energetic young animals and older pets requiring extra patience and attention. Over the years, I have also provided basic medical care, including administering medication, monitoring recovery after illness or procedures, and ensuring pets remain comfortable, safe, and well cared for. As a retired school teacher with over 20 years of experience working in banking, I understand the importance of responsibility, trust, patience, and clear communication. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always aim to provide a calm, loving, and reliable environment where owners can feel completely reassured while they are away.

I provide a calm, safe, and loving environment for pets both in my home and when caring for them in an owner’s home. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and comfort levels, so I always tailor my care to meet their individual needs. At home, pets will be welcomed by my friendly Cockapoo, Zeus, who has an amazing temperament and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He even has a very special bond with my cat, Elvis, which reflects the calm and friendly atmosphere in our home. Depending on the personality and preferences of the visiting pet, walks and exercise can be enjoyed alongside Zeus for companionship and socialisation or provided on a solo basis for pets who prefer quieter surroundings and one-to-one attention. I also have a fully secure garden where pets can safely play, relax, and explore under supervision. The safety, wellbeing, and happiness of every pet in my care are extremely important to me, and I always aim to provide attentive, patient, and reliable care so owners can feel completely reassured while away.

It’s the first time we have used a pet sitter while we have been away but we needn’t have worried. Matt was fantastic with our anxious Staffie, Cooper. Matt came round for a meet and greet about 2 weeks beforehand. Cooper took to him immediately. Matt was very calm and reassured Cooper when he was unsure of other dogs when out on a walk. We received daily updates and photos. Matt was respectful of Cooper’s routines and anxieties and treated our home as if it were his own. He even washed the bed linen and put it back on the bed before we arrived home. I cannot find anything negative to say about Matt. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to other people
Great care of our dogs!
Matthew has just done a two week housesit with three dogs in roasting conditions. He was absolutely brilliant. He clearly cared for them all exceedingly well. He adjusted their walk times to ensure they got out on walks very early and very late in the day to avoid the worst of the heatwave. He was grooming them and checking for signs of distress. He dealt with a matted fur area on the paw of a fluffy cavapoo and gave them a lot of love and sent me a load of photos. Matthews communication with me prior to the sit and during was first class. Particularly helpful as I had work going on in the house while he was away and he gave me feedback on how that was going. He has left the house tidy and even ensured that loads of windows were already open in the rooms I and my family including some under 5s were coming back to. I would highly recommend Matthew.

Schedule
As I am retired, pet care fits very naturally into my daily and weekly routine, allowing me to dedicate plenty of time, attention, and companionship to the pets in my care. My flexible schedule means I can easily adapt to each pet’s individual needs, whether that involves regular walks, feeding routines, playtime, administering medication, or simply providing company and reassurance throughout the day. I enjoy maintaining calm and consistent routines that help pets feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable while their owners are away. Because I do not have the demands of full-time work, I am able to give pets the time and attention they deserve without feeling rushed. I understand how important it is for owners to know their pets are being cared for in a reliable and loving environment, and I always aim to provide attentive, patient, and dependable care tailored to each animal’s personality and routine.
