Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with three Golden Retrievers and five cats, I’ve always been the person who will happily spend too long on the floor talking to a dog or making friends with the shy cat in the room. This love has taken me beyond my own pets. Throughout middle school, I volunteered at two different cat rescue shelters abroad. Teaching me that sometimes the most important thing you can give an animal is patience. I also regularly pet sit for my sister’s two dogs in England. One of them is a fairly reactive Pitbull, which has taught me a lot about reading a dogs body language, respecting their boundaries, and staying calm so they don’t feel overwhelmed. I love him to bits, and have helped train him to become more comfortable with people and when out in public on walks. For me, pet sitting isn’t just about making sure a pet is fed, walked, and looked after. I want them to feel that their person has left them in safe hands. I’ll take the time to get to know their little quirks, routines, and favourite things, and make sure they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I genuinely want every pet I look after to feel like they’ve gained a temporary second home in their pet sitter.
