Animal Care Professional & Zoology Graduate
What sets me apart is my formal education in zoology combined with hands-on experience in the animal sector. I understand animal behavior, body language, and welfare on a deeper level than the average sitter, allowing me to tailor care to each dog’s individual needs. I’m attentive, knowledgeable, and calm in a variety of situations—whether that’s caring for energetic puppies, senior dogs, or pets that need a little extra patience and understanding.

First time April staying with anyone other than family. So was a little nervous. Matthew answered all my questions, and put my nerves to ease. I received photos of April and updates. And she seems to enjoy her stay with Matthew. Will definitely use him again

Odie always likes going to Matt’s he seems really happy and settled when we pick him up

Mathew was amazing with Rocco. It was our first time leaving him and we were a little anxious but he put us at ease and you could tell Rocco really enjoyed his stay as he didn't want to leave! Will definitely use Mathew again! Thankyou

Odie looks so happy in the photo, he enjoys spending time at Matt’s thank you

Mathew has just been looking after cooper for 3 days, he had such a good time and settled really well. This is the first time we have left him with anyone and felt comfortable and reassured, we will definitely be re booking again and would recommend anyone to use his services 👍

Bonnie has been so well looked after by Mathew. She can be an extremely fussy eater at times, but she’s come home looking happy, healthy, and clearly very content — she must have had everything she needed because I’m not entirely sure she even wanted to come home. She’s obviously had plenty of walks, attention, and company throughout her stay. It’s such a relief knowing she was in such good hands. Thank you so much, Mathew. I wouldn’t hesitate to rebook.

Schedule
I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to spend plenty of time caring for and engaging with your dog throughout the day. Attentive, hands-on care for your beloved pet.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I aim to create a safe, calm, and trusting environment where dogs can feel relaxed and secure (your dog’s home away from home). My background in zoology and animal care means I’m confident reading behaviour, managing routines, and prioritising welfare at all times. I follow care instructions closely, maintain consistent boundaries, and always put your dog’s safety and comfort first, treating them with the same care and respect I would my own.
A typical day
A typical day is structured, calm, and centred around each dog’s individual needs. Mornings usually start with a walk or outdoor time, taking advantage of the nearby hills, woods, and open green spaces, with routes chosen to suit your dog’s age, energy level, and preferences. Throughout the day I provide plenty of enrichment, play, and companionship, alongside rest and downtime. I’m fortunate to live close to beautiful countryside near the Peak District, which allows for stimulating but safe walks, always keeping your dog’s wellbeing, routine, and safety as my top priorities.

- To provide the best possible care, I like to learn as much as I can about your pet in advance. This includes their daily routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, and any training cues they know. It’s also important to understand their temperament, likes and dislikes, how they behave around other dogs and people, and whether there are any anxieties or triggers I should be aware of. Please let me know about any medical conditions, medications, allergies, or special care requirements, as well as what alone time they’re comfortable with. I also appreciate knowing their favourite toys, treats, walking preferences, and anything that helps them feel safe and settled. Clear communication beforehand helps ensure your pet feels comfortable, secure, and well cared for while you’re away.
