More Details

About Hemi (Hemison Montana)

Hemi was adopted from a shelter at 2 months old. He had been abandoned and suffered from severe separation anxiety. He has come a long way, but still gets a little upset (barking) when someone leaves him. Recently we have discovered that he likes to join us on our runs. (He used to jump and bite his leash.) He is a big love bug and wants to make friends with everyone, 2 or 4 legs alike. He grew up with cats in the house and currently has 3 feline sisters that occasionally snuggle with him. One big happy family!

  • Sex: Male
  • Age: 14 years, 1 mo. old
  • Weight: 75 lbs
  • Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier & German Shepherd Dog
  • Tracking Chip: Unknown
  • Neutered: Yes
  • House Trained: Yes
I do not recall the last time he has had an accident. Occasionally will throw up water if he drinks too fast.
  • Gets along with children: Yes
He is not around children that often, but when he has been he is well behaved.
  • Gets along with other dogs: Yes
As is typical with make dogs, he tries to mount other dogs. He also gets vocal when other dogs are not paying attention to him.
  • Gets along with cats: Yes
Rarely fazed by the cats nuzzling him or climbing on him.

Special Requirements

He likes to get into the litter box and trash cans if able to do so. We have 2 baby gates to keep him from getting to these areas. Hemi also has his own room that he stays in when left home alone. Just put up a baby gate and give home a cookie (This helps minimize the barking when you leave.), then out the door you go.

About Zoey (kitty)

Zoey is our most recent addition. (We adopted her from a local shelter who I was volunteering for at the time.) She's an interesting little girl who is a mix of Siamese (flame point) and tabby. On occasion she will look at you with the signature Siamese cross-eyes. Because of this I call her my little spider monkey.

About Cali (kitty)

Cali is was also adopted from a local shelter. She was 4 years old at the time, and older kitties tend to be overlooked. Since I have always wanted a calico kitty, it was love at first sight. And for those of you that don't know calico is a color, not a breed, and is almost always found on females. She's a finicky little girl, but can be a lover when she wants to be.

About Lucy (kitty)

Lucy is our fat cat. She was rescued from the "mean" streets of Dover, Delaware as a little, flea-ridden kitten. We think the loss of her best friend many years ago caused her to become depressed and eat her feelings. We love her regardless. While she has been with us the longest, her and Cali are about the same age.
