I'm currently a full-time student at MSU, and will share my schedule when a booking request is made. I have gaps between my classes, and am generally done with school around 12 pm on T/TH and around 2-3pm on M/W/F. Again, I have gaps between classes so I am available at different times of day. I am fully free on the weekends!

Safety, trust & environment

I have three dogs and two cats currently living at home, while I have my third car with me at college. My college car is also blind and one of my home dogs has a torn CCL, but they both are adored all the same. I wouldn't change it for the world! My dogs are on radio collars on occasion (generally when strays begin to appear), but more often than not, they are inside-outside dogs and are let out on average 4-6x a day. My own dog, Felix, has the torn CCL and gets leashwalked 4-6x a day as well. All of my cats are free-fed dry food, and my blind kitty gets fed a special dry food. My oldest cat (13 yrs) is also fed wet food as an additional food, 1-2x a day. Their litter box is cleaned weekly, as we do not scoop, but I do scoop my blind cat's litter box daily, as she is the only cat in the dorm and the box is suited specifically for her. In my clients home, I will follow any and all rules and regulations laid out of me. I love "excessive details" as they give me a better idea of how to properly care for the pets. I follow feeding times and amounts to a T, and double, triple, sometimes quadruple-checking amounts of everything, whether it be food, medications, or the amount of excrement I find. If anything looks off (behavior, excrement, appetite, etc.) the owner is immediately notified with a mentality of "what do you want me to do next?" My goal is to treat the pet as good as the owner does, in the time I am around them. On walks, I encourage proper walking skills (heeling, low reactivity), and try to help teach dogs as I do so. If allowed by the owner, I'd use low-calorie, high-reward treats with a clicker tool to help refine walking skills. This way the pet gets mental and physical stimulation, while being able to still be themself.

Information Mary T. would like to know about your pet

Let me know of any dietary restrictions or preferences, especially if I am allowed to bring the low-calorie treats on walks. If any medications are needed, please give detailed instructions, including behavior of the animal during administration. I'd rather make it as easy as possible on both me and the pet. Indicate anything extra I may need to do after play, potty, or feeding time, such as cleaning bowls, wiping bottoms, or cleaning toys/areas. Some of this I will do automatically, but if listed specifically, consider it already done. If there are any sore places or places your pet does not like being touched, PLEASE write it down. I want to make a good impression on you and your pet, and I'd rather restrict touch due to preferences than overdo it and cause discomfort or pain for any party involved.

A typical day

During walks, I love doing heeling exercises like stop and sit, heel, speed up, slow down, etc. To keep them focused and engaged mentally and physically. Inside the home, playing with the pets is most likely the best part of my job. I can use any toy to engage any animal and have an ability to figure out the individual pets playing style. I can properly use tug toys, stick and string, retrieval, squeakers, chewers, etc. Any toy you can think of, I can handle, and I know when to wind down or remove play, whether due to injury, tiredness, or other circumstances. I'd also love to help with repetition surrounding tricks, behaviors, or commands that might need constant refreshing or reinforcing. I might enjoy this more than playtime!

Pet care experience

I've grown up with dogs my entire life, and in the last five years, have raised three puppies into well-behaved, mature dogs, and cared for my two senior dogs until they passed. I personally trained my youngest dog and she is the best-behaved pup in public! I have experience with administering medication, grooming, training, feeding routines, and overall handling, especially dogs that are skittish or fearful. All of these skills helped me excel in both of my kennel assistant positions. I am patient and fully willing to provide care for senior or injured pets, as they hold a special place in my heart.

Mary was absolutely amazing! She was always on time and stayed the entire time that was allotted which was a big deal to us. She sent the best photos of our cats and made sure they were always content either playing or giving them their squeezies (churrus). Highly recommend booking with her, very trustworthy and kind lady.

Kathleen has been an amazing caretaker for our animals for over 7 years. They are uniquely experienced in goat care including nutrition, supplementation, labor & delivery, and grooming. They have cared for our house pets(dogs and cats, including one special needs cat) attentively and given the resources, can teach basic obedience and moderate tricks to dogs using positive reward methods. They are also familiar with basic horse and chicken care as well.

Kathleen is amazing with animals! They have experience with dogs, cats, goats, and reptiles of all ages and limitations. They own a special needs senior cat and have a deep love for all animals. I would trust them with any of my fur babies!
