Your dog is family, not a booking
I grew up in a dog household and never really left one, until recently. After 14 years together, I lost my dog, the little love of my life, and I’m not ready for a new one yet. What I am ready for is giving someone else’s dog the kind of attention most sitters can’t offer: I work from home full time, which means your pup is never alone, never crated out of necessity, and always has a warm presence nearby. I know what it feels like to hand your dog to a stranger and hope for the best. I take that trust seriously. Your dog will be treated like the center of the universe, because honestly, that’s just how I’m wired.
Qualifications
Safety, trust & environment
I grew up with dogs at every age, puppies who needed constant supervision, senior dogs who needed patience and gentleness, and everything in between. I know that each dog is different, and I’ll follow your lead on routine, food, cues, and quirks. My home is calm, clean, and dog-proofed out of habit. I don’t have other pets, so your dog has my full attention. I’ll stick to whatever schedule you set, send you updates without being prompted, and flag anything that seems off immediately, because I’d want the same. No guessing, no improvising with someone else’s dog. I do allow dogs on the furniture or in the bed, but if that’s not your rule, then happy to keep whatever structure in place you have.
Ratings and reviews
Mary is extremely professional and incredibly reliable. Mary adores dogs, and after seeing her interactions with any and every dog she meets, it is apparent that they adore her too. She cares about the well-being and safety of my fur babies, which gives me the peace of mind I need when I am away. I assure you that your dog is in safe hands with Mary!
I’ve had the privilege of seeing Mary’s relationship with her dog Burt up close, and it was truly something special. She was a dedicated, loving dog owner who always put Burt’s wellbeing first, and her natural intuition with animals was obvious from day one. Over the years, she’s also cared for several friends’ dogs, proving time and again that she’s responsible, trustworthy, and genuinely joyful in the company of pets. Dogs respond to her calm, caring presence, and she treats each one as if they were her own. Mary is also one of the most loyal and considerate friends I know, and those same qualities shine through in her pet‑sitting. Anyone in NYC looking for a sitter who will love their dog wholeheartedly should feel confident choosing her.

Schedule
I work from home full time, so my day doesn’t have hard edges the way an office job does. I’m here in the morning when a dog needs a walk before I settle in. I’m here midday when they need to go out, get some attention, or just have someone nearby while they nap. I’m not squeezing pet care into lunch breaks or rushing home after 6pm. Your dog just becomes part of my day, and I genuinely like it that way. Evenings are calm and low-key, which suits most dogs well. Weekends are flexible. There’s no schedule that requires your dog to be invisible or managed around my life. I live near two dog parks and am happy to spend as long as they would like there or if they are more of a people-pet, then hanging out alone. I am also big on taking them with me (if possible) when running errands in the city.
