Each pet is so different and I get a read on what they love from their owners and do just that...walking, games, hiking, playing, lots of love, belly rubs, and head scratches...lots of love and attention.

Pet care experience
I understand how important it is to know that when you are traveling you have peace of mind when it comes to the care of your pets and your home. Throughout my life I've cared for the pets and homes of friends while they traveled, providing love and attention for their four legged family members, caring for their home and gardens, watering plants, tending chickens, shoveling snow and keeping the wood stove going in the colder months. My beloved companion, a standard poodle, breathed her last breath on 12/28/22. I trained her as a puppy and she was a pure delight to live with. I was there with her at home until her last breath. Now that Greta is no longer with me, I have the flexibility and freedom to travel and I look forward to exploring new places, meeting new people, caring for other four legged beings of all kinds and providing peace of mind for my clients who know all is well and cared for on the home front while they are enjoying their travels. I feel like I'm the best fit for well mannered and well trained pets, without aggressive tendencies and with regard to dogs, ones that don’t pull on leash and respond well to voice commands if off leash. High energy dogs or dogs who bark a lot probably aren’t the best fit for my calm nature. With regard to the best fit for a home environment, the best fit for me is a home that is clean, uncluttered, clear energetically, smoke free, scent free (including scented candles, plug in fragrance devices and toxic cleaning products), with no in-home cameras or active Alexa-like devices. I've been home/pet sitting, off Rover, in Maine from 1/24 - 5/24 and will be in NC for two months doing the same until 8/1/24, so have no current Rover reviews for that time period. I'll be back August 1, 2024 and ready to Rover! I hope that is helpful to you when choosing me as a trusted pet sitter and home carer for you and as a caring companion for your pets. I look forward to exploring further via a zoom meet and greet to get to know each other.

Reviews
Very thoughtful and kind!

Having a very senior dog, it is harder and harder to leave her in the care of someone else. Mary managed all of Sadie’s old lady quirks (and our puppy) with grace and humor. We highly recommend her caregiving and house sitting services!

Mary did a wonderful job with our 3 4leggeds. She communicated clearly, left the house looking great, and was a pleasure to deal with… We were totally comfortable that any issues that might arise she was on top of. 10* recommendation!
Mary cared for my two senior, special needs pups in my home for 8 days. I had not used an in-home sitter before, and my request was rather short notice as my usual resource cancelled with little notice. Mary came out to the house to meet us in advance and to understand the medical needs of my blind, insulin dependent pup as well as her fifteen-year-old brother. Mary sent me daily updates and photos, kept to the rather demanding 6 am to 6pm insulin schedule as well as the pup's walking routine. I ran out of dog food and Mary replaced it to make sure I would have sufficient food when I returned late at night. The house was spotless and my little old dogs in great shape. I highly recommend Dr. Mary Spicer.
