Dog Aunt in Detroit
Growing up, my family always had at least one furry friend living with us, be it a hamster, dog, rabbit or bird. But I did not have a pet of my own until I bought my home in Detroit in 2014, settling down after a life of frequent moving/traveling. Now my little family consists of 2 little ones, a sweet bunny, my patient partner and myself. We have lived with cats and dogs in the past, but not currently. I’m an ethical vegan and an animal rights advocate. In the past I’ve worked at the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington, NY, where I cared for and supervised the puppies, kittens, cats and dogs who lived there and spoke to potential adopters who were interested in taking them home. My history of volunteer work in Detroit includes membership in Pretties for Pitties, a pit bull advocacy organization that helps keep Pitts and other bully breeds in their loving homes, and fights BSL in Michigan. I’m an active member of Attorneys for Animals, an organization that connects animal advocates with animal law. Before the birth of my daughter I worked for many years at the Detroit Public Library, and I’m currently an Airbnb host as well. In my life I’ve worn many hats, but my favorite and most fulfilling role has been that of a mom and caretaker of animals. We cannot wait to meet your furbabies and welcome them into our home!

My dogs enjoyed their stay.
Mary took great care of my two small dogs. She communicated their activities to me via pictures and videos. One of my dogs has separation issues, but he appeared to calm down quickly. Now that he knows he can go on the bed, I'm sure he'll settle down comfortably. I'll continue to use Mary's services in the future.
Mary is awesome! She was super accommodating and very quick to respond to any communication. She sent pictures and movies regularly while our doggie was in her care. Her family is kind, their home is peaceful and they have a big fenced-in backyard--a perfect happy place for our dog.
I wanted to hire Mary for a month of dog walks. She suggested we do it between us to save money. I paid her $600 and gave her my keys. After 8 walks she said she hurt her foot but her husband could walk my dog. When I found out that her husband was taking their 3 year old on the walks, I asked her to please not have the child come on the dog walks. She said some very nasty things to me and quit! Mary has refused to give me my keys or $400 back for the walks she is not doing. I have had to have the locks to my house changed. This has been very stressful and expensive. Mary stole $400 of my money and my house keys. Do not hire her! Unethical and dishonest!

Our dogs had the most amazing stay with Mary. We couldn't be happier with the contact through videos, photos, and text communication throughout their stay. Highly recommend!
