Pet care experience

Home full time - great back yard!

Need some special love and attention for your pooch while you're away? We'd love to help! Our five children, ages 25-9, can offer plenty of love and affection for your canine friend. My husband and I have had over 26 years of experience working with dogs. Our oldest boys, now in college, each cared for a dog of their own (a Bichon and a Lhasa Apso). Currently, our middle boys each have a dog of their own (a mini Goldendoodle and a Pug) whom they care for. Because we homeschool our fourth child, we are home a lot during the day. We welcome your dog to join us for a snuggle on our couch or recliners during our homeschooling time, romps around the neighborhood for exercise and potty breaks, and a nap in an easy chair in our sunroom.

Mary took exceptional care of our golden retriever and papillon. Was very attentive and responsive, and has a wonderful family where our dogs felt very comfortable. They didn’t want to leave and will be back soon!

It feels like a blessing to find Mary and her wonderful family on Rover! From the moment we met, Bella and I felt warmly welcomed and at home. Bella was so wonderfully taken care of by Mary while I was on vacation. Heartwarming videos and pictures were shared that reassured me my girl was happy and loved on. Not to mention, Mary upped the bar on Bella's Diva Diet! I'd definitely recommend Mary and her family to any AND everyone to care for your fur baby! <3

This was our first time leaving our dog, Ferris, with Mary and her family. He was so well cared for with regular walks and lots of family love! Mary sent photos and text accounts everyday to let us know how he adjusted and settled in. We enjoyed our week away knowing he was in good hands!

Calendar and availability

Schedule

Your pooch will be able to accompany us in our everyday adventures, from morning routines to online classes to homeschool work to riding in the car with us as we drive to and from homeschool co-ops, swim practices, piano lessons, gymnastics and Par-Cour classes each week. Your pooch will enjoy oodles of love and attention from all of our kiddos as well as myself! He or she can sit in one child’s lap while attending an online Latin or Greek Mythology class, and then move over to another lap to learn about vowel teams, digraphs, and blends. Your pooch will also have many daily snuggles together on a couch or easy chair while learning about geometry and helping our son write a paper on Greek Mythology. We enjoy hiking on the weekends, and your pooch joins us to have a ton of fun. We provide many videos and photos of your dog daily so that you can stay closely connected with your pooch while you are away. Whether your dog is getting a pedicure from our 9 yr old daughter or walking the Saunders-Monticello trail with all of us, we will document your pooch’s adventures and share them with you throughout each day!

Safety, trust & environment

We are comfortable walking your dog as often as he or she needs. We love to play with your dog and have an assortment of dog toys in our home. If we go outside to play, your dog comes along with us! We enjoy walks around our neighborhood (1/2 mile loop) as well as the trails at Kemper Park (the Monticello Walkway).

Pets

A typical day

Because we are home a lot during the day, your dog will have plenty of human companionship and love. Your canine friend can join our two dogs, a mini Goldendoodle and a Pug, for walks around the neighborhood and playing fetch with a frisbee in the backyard.

Because we have two cats, we need to make sure that the dogs we pet sit will not be aggressive towards cats. Also, we can only care for dogs who are too short to reach food off the countertops or who are trained to not jump up and eat food off the countertops.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
