Pet care experience

SE Ldn architect loves walking dogs

Hey, my name is Mary, and I'm a 30yo freelance architect from Greece, living in Peckham with my partner and my cat Syko. I've been around dogs and cats for pretty much all of my life, walking, caring for and sitting both for friends / family pets and professionally through word of mouth as well as stayed in Airbnbs and flat shares with animals, which I helped look after and really enjoyed. I've helped raise my two dogs back home, Nala and Marley who were medium-large size dogs of different breeds and personalities. I know that it can be hard to keep up with the routines of a working or family life in London, and that there are times some outside help is necessary to make sure our pets are having the best time they can. I'm here to play, care for, walk, and generally spend time with all types of dogs and cats, and I always treat others' pets as if they were my own. I'm located in Nunhead and happy to chat through your pet caring needs (mainly around Southwark / Lewisham boroughs but can move a bit further depending). As I'm a freelancer I work from home and I'm available for walkies and most dog / cat care activities all week. I don't have a garden or balcony but i'm happy to spend hours outdoors in parks with dogs, and can dog/catsit in my flat too. I love all dogs and furry creatures and I'm happiest when I'm with them!

Safety, trust & environment

My 1-bed flat is on the 3rd floor and I don't have a garden or balcony, which is why I prefer providing walking services and house visits. On the walk I make sure to take water and treats with me. Before setting off I will ask you whether your dog has good recall and prefers being on or off leash, as well as any particularities they might have such as not being good with children, and what toys they like to play with. I know every dog & cat is different, so I always give them time to sniff and approach me first, and then will pet them to show that I'm a friend. My approach is also to let them lead me where they want to go, and will listen to advice from the owners for what the dog likes to do on a walk. I'm confident with all sizes of dog. As an architect and homeowner I appreciate keeping spaces well maintained, clean and tidy and treat other people's homes as I do my own. I can look after dogs at my flat if necessary and if my cat and your pet don't get along, I can segregate them in separate rooms. If your dog stayed at my flat for a day or two, I'd make sure to take them out for extended walks to the park and play with them a lot outside.

Dog Walking • Aug 25, 2026

Mary was very friendly and excellent at communicating from the start. She took my pooch Fay on long walks around my area and played with her off leash in the park which Fay absolutely loves. Fay always looked happy and tired when she got back. Mary gave me updates and photos throughout the walk. I would recommend Mary and will definitely be contacting her for more walkies!

Mary is a very responsible dog (and cat) sitter. She absolutely loves all animals no matter whose they are and she is a very reliable, friendly and caring person. I would recommend her to anyone if they are looking for someone to take care of their pet.

Schedule

I teach part-time during the academic year at a University 1.5 days a week (in person) from end of September until end of May. The rest of the week I WFH as a freelance architect. My day starts normally around 7am, with a walk or some exercise, and I can fit in dog walking before I start work between 7:30-11am. I have a flexible schedule most of the week, and am available for walks in the afternoon/evening as well, after 4pm. I can mostly look after pets in the weekend as well.

It would be good to know in advance of any specifics relating to your dog such as not being good on a walk / pulling / not being friendly with other dogs / having or not having good recall / needing more water than normal. These are more fundamental things which will make sure we have a good time together, but if there are commands or things you are trying to work on with them, please let me know and I will incorporate it into my walks!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
