I currently work remote, so I can easily fit regular checks/walks into my days and can spend more time in the home. If doing overnight care, I will want to run back to my house once a day to check on my cats, but as they have an automatic feeder and water fountain, they are pretty independent. One thing of note is that I usually don’t like to do overnight care for more than 2 nights in a row to make sure they don’t feel neglected.

I am really open to what my client wants from me, I have taken care of pets that needed to be crated (and my parents always crated our dogs growing up), dogs and cats that need to sleep in bed with me, etc. I’m also open to taking them out to use the restroom leashed or unleashed (if in a fenced area) at any time and will adhere to the natural flow the client wants. I typically empty my cats’ litter and refill their water fountain once a day. They have an automatic feeder that I have set to give them 4 small meals throughout the day. Again though, I will happily follow whatever routine the client wants.

I really don’t mind any special requests, please just be clear about any unique care your dog needs, whether that be dietary, or if they are nervous around other animals, if they have a specific bedtime, etc.
A typical day
I love to walk or jog with them, play some fetch if possible, and do retrieving games (I grew up with Labs and Goldens). I also like to read to them!

Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of dogs and cats and have always had both in my household growing up. Now I have two cats of my own but still consistently dogsit. I also volunteer at House of Mews in Cooper-Young, and from that experience (and from having my own cats), can identify some health issues (i.e. looking at stool or seeing runny eyes/sneezing, etc.) and administer basic medication (pills, mouth syringes, ointments). I am a super active person, so I can guarantee your dog will get a long walk (unless you tell me otherwise). I also love reading to animals! I think that they relax when we talk to them so reading to them before bed is something I always do when I petsit.

Mary was really amazing with my boys! She came and met them the weekend before she was going to watch them and was very flexible on her schedule to hang out with my animals! She took my dog to the dog park and walked him! She sent me lots of pictures of everyone and kept me updated in the morning and night which I appreciated! Everything went very smooth and I will definitely be rebooking!
