As a wife and wife team, your care will be carried out by either of us or both of us— but you can ensure top quality care regardless of who is providing it. Walks and drop ins before 8am and after 5pm are often attended by Gabrielle, while housesits are generally carried out by Mary due to Gabrielle’s full time position. Boarding care is handled by both parties. Most messages are responded to by Mary. Mary does have a standing M-F 3 hour babysitting gig from 1-4, though it often ends early. We try to be flexible and accept most bookings, including emergency last minute bookings. We offer a number of services; however, we do not accepts pets from more than one family at a time during boardings so that we can ensure the utmost attention, care and safety of your furry friends.

Information Mary & Gabrielle D. would like to know about your pet

Please let us know if your pet has any special requirements, is not friendly with other animals, needs to have a regimented routine followed, if they need to avoid being fed anything specific (cheese, peanut butter, any other allergens or irritants) and generally what you expect of us and our time with your pet. I will do my best to ensure to meet all requests.

A typical day

We endeavor to start each day early and to follow all care and routine instructions provided to me. Each day generally starts with a walk or being let in the yard, followed by breakfast and then a period of rest for digestion. Then, another walk after breakfast has processed and then it’s fun, play and snuggles until dinner time. We keep a well stocked assortment of enrichment items from different training treats and training sticks, treat dispensers, different flavored dog peanut butter with slow feeders and lick mats to excite and keep dogs busy, Kong toys with different Kong fillers. We also have puzzle games for mental stimulation, too many toys to count and new ones coming in all the time. For summer, we will have a doggy splash pad set up and available. Your furry friends are guaranteed to have something entertaining to do during their stay.

Big Star Pet Care

Pet care experience

Big Star Pet Care was started in memorial of our best friend of nearly 10 years, a rescue pitbull who was our Biggest Star. That’s why we give everyone our Big Star Promise— to treat your animals like they are their own Big Star. I've taken care of many animals, from cats & dogs, to rodents, reptiles, birds and more. This makes my experience in animal care varied and diverse. I am comfortable with all sizes of pet and breed, as well as many different temperaments. We are privately insured with pet care professional insurance (including vet coverage)— for the utmost safety of your loved ones, so that you can rest at ease while away. We are always learning new ways to expand what we can offer to our clients. We strive to follow instructions left by the pet owner and always send plenty of photos and updates. I am comfortable giving baths and can administer oral medication if needed. Thank you for considering Big Star Pet Services, I look forward to meeting you and your best friend(s).

Mary was a great pet sitter! She watched our 2 dogs, cat and turtle for 5 days. One of our dogs is a bit difficult to acclimate with strangers and is very reactive so we are always hesitant on who we wanted to watch her. We’ve tried boarding before and never felt great about that so we decided to try a pet sitter so that the pets could stay home and feel most comfortable. Mary sent updates and pictures everyday making our trip stress free knowing the pets were in good hands. Mary was very respectful to our home and belongings and we will definitely be booking with her again in the future!

It was my first time using Rover as my regular sitter wasn’t available. I chose Gabby and Mary as they lived close by and had exceptional reviews. Gabby came by to meet the pups and I felt at ease upon meeting her. She reached out if she had questions and provided plenty of photos of the pups. Thank you for taking care of my babies.

What a great first experience. i absolutely loved the daily pictures and notes. Even our feral kitties outside and our plants were well taken care of. And so timely each day giving our oldest cat her meds. Will definitely book again when we plan to be away.
