I started housesitting in High school for the owner of a local flower and plant shop. In addition to her family's two sweet Boston Terriers (Pinky & Blue) I got to learn how to take care of their gorgeous array of indoor and outdoor plants. I have had the pleasure of housesitting again for them in the last couple years when my geography allows as they have added a couple cats to their family too! In the fall of 2023, I stayed with a childhood friend for a couple months while her spouse was traveling after her second baby was born. Although I have a lot of experience joining homes as an au pair to help out with little humans, I got to add caring for two little dogs during this stay as well! I honestly fell in love with the routine of taking Frankie & Stella out for walks to break up my work day in from of the computer and stayed with them on my own while the whole family took a trip out of state.

In my community, I have accidentally become the go to dog/house/cat/plat sitter of my friend group during their travels. From staying with Zuko for 2.5 weeks, to keeping 30+ plants watered in a friend's apartment and staying with Amaya just for the weekend, I take the invitation into someone else's home as an honor and the responsibility to taking care of it seriously making sure to respect the spaces and objects in the home, clean up after myself, leave it better than I found it!

Mary is amazing! She recently housesat for my 13 years-young cattle dog, Nyx, during a last minute weekend trip I had to take. Nyx can be very timid around new people, so I was extremely happy (and relieved) to see how quickly she warmed up to Mary. Mary provided regular updates and took Nyx out for her long walks.
Mary helped staying with our cat during a 2-week trip away. She’s very friendly and communicative and did a great job taking care of our kitty with photo updates. Would definitely recommend!

Schedule
While I know taking breaks and going on walks promote my mental health, it can be hard to prioritize. I have come to love pet sitting as it helps me externalize these healthy habit in the context of service and caring for someone other than myself. I work from home two days a week and strive to get outside before I sit down to work in the morning and after I sign off in the afternoon.
