In addition to petsitting on Rover since 2021, I was a trained volunteer at the SPCA in Harrisonburg, VA, with over 150 hours of service completed. Those hours included walking dogs, cleaning cat cages, and socializing feral kittens! I occasionally fostered animals for the shelter, and am very experienced at giving pets medication (oral, injection, or topical). I grew up with a family cat and Golden Retriever, and adopted a cat of my own, Ellie, over 10 years ago. I am very good at earning the trust of shy or wary animals, which is always a big relief for anxious pet owners. Over my many years of petsitting, I am more than used to complex feeding routines, stubborn senior pets, odd toileting practices -- I've see it all! Beyond cats and dogs, I have cared for chickens, parrots, bunnies, fish, hampsters, reptiles... you name it!

I have experience using all sorts of home alarm systems, garage codes, electronic locks, and finicky keyed locks. I have a reliable car and I'll be able to transport your animal in case of any emergency or change in plans. 1st time using Rover? Ask me for my referral code before booking to get a full $40 off!
Ratings and reviews
Mary did a great job caring for my two dogs while I was away for 5 days. She spent time outside with them and gave them the attention that they love. She sent detailed updates and pictures every visit. I felt assured that my dogs were being well cared for. I would love for Mary to be their sitter again!
My cats took to Mary right away, even before they realized she was there to feed them! She went above and beyond and did additional things, like collecting mail, dragging packages in the garage, without me even asking. Will definitely be using again for our next trip!

Schedule
I am a public school teacher in Stafford County (we start in early August) so while during the school year I am limited to weekends/holidays, during the summer I am almost entirely available!
