Pet care experience

Passionate and caring cat, dog and horse lover.

I've owned cats nearly all my life along with two horses in my teens and for a number of years, have been walking, sitting and looking after other owners' dogs. I also regularly walk, feed and take care of my neighbour's dog, Reggie. I have always been an animal lover, coming from a farming family many years ago and have years of experience in caring for cats and dogs. I have also completed a 'Pet First-Aid' course (certificate attached in photos) in order to gain more experience and knowledge.

Mary-Ann is, quite simply, a cat whisperer. Our 12-year-old cat Bert is a rather nervous little gentleman who doesn’t give his affection away easily – but with Mary-Ann, he’s completely smitten. We’ve booked Mary-Ann many times for daily drop-ins in our home while we’re away, and she never fails to make Bert feel like the centre of the universe. The real magic, though, is how she transforms him into a kitten again. Bert, who normally treats toys with polite indifference, suddenly becomes an Olympic-level performer – launching toy mice into the air, executing elegant ballerina pirouettes around feather wands, and even throwing in the occasional somersault for good measure. It’s like watching a one-cat circus, and we’re obsessed. If it’s been a little while between bookings, Mary-Ann always pops by beforehand to reacquaint herself with Bert (and, more importantly, for Bert to reacquaint himself with her). A bit of playtime later and he’s completely at ease again – it’s such a thoughtful touch and incredibly reassuring for us. While we’re away, we’re treated to daily photo updates of Bert living his absolute best life – playing, lounging, and soaking up cuddles. At this point, we’re fairly certain he enjoys his “holidays” with Mary-Ann more than he does with us! We truly can’t recommend Mary-Ann highly enough. She’s warm, kind, and clearly has a special gift with animals. The fact that she’s also trained in animal first aid is just phenomenal and icing on the cake – Bert is always in the safest, most loving hands.

Mary Ann looked after Alfie very well and he adored her. She left the house in a very clean state.

We absolutely love Mary-Ann! She has worked wonders with our cat, Bertie, who is rather reserved and not one much for playing with toys. This is the second time we have used Mary-Ann's cat-sitting services. Also this time - just like the previous one - Mary-Ann has managed to transform our 10-year-old Bertie to a spring kitten, who has a new spring in his step while playing with toys Mary-Ann has brought in for him. Rather than picking up our Bertie depressed from a cattery, the fact that Mary-Ann can care for him in our home means we are returning home to a joyful and youthful cat! :) We are so delighted and grateful to Mary-Ann for her kindness and generosity, and for sending us photos of Bertie while we are away (where he clearly is not missing us!). We honestly cannot recommend Mary-Ann highly enough, and we look forward to contacting her again for our future travels. xxxxxxx

Calendar and availability

Schedule

Having retired in June 2023, after working in the Civil Service for 43yrs, I'm really enjoying my own time and the great outdoors, away from desk life, along with being able to do what I love which is spending more time with my love for animals, ie dog walking, cat and dog sitting, along with cycling, walking, winter skiing and more travelling.

Where your pet will stay

Safety, trust & environment

Being a big animal lover all my life and having had many years of pet care and feeding experience, I can therefore be trusted walking, caring and looking after other owner's pets. Sadly in 2021 we had to say goodbye to our last lovely cat of 17yrs. When caring for pets in the owners home, I prioritise their safety and well-being by strictly adhering to the instructions provided by the owner upon arrival. I maintain open communication by keeping all contact details handy and providing regular updates, including photo updates during walks and stays, to keep the owner informed and reassured. I ensure that your dog remains on the lead at all times, respecting any preferences regarding dog's behaviour, along with their likes and dislikes.

A typical day

Fun and stimulating walks as well as any special games your dog loves, along with enjoying walks, whether it's extra long walks, their favourite routes and generally enjoying their company and making them feel special with a lot of fuss and love and also my big love for cats too.
