Pet care experience

Love and Excercise

I'm offering to care for dogs overnight in my home. I have walked and sat for dogs since 1991. I am a "dog whisperer" and have never met a dog that I did not like. I have a 7 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who gets along with all dogs. I love to take dogs on long walks through the woods nearby. My dog, Tessa is on a raw diet, but I can feed your dog whatever you like.

My pup, Karai, fell in love with Mary Ann and her pup. Mary Ann was accommodating and was available for an early drop off while I went out on the water for the day. She kept me updated with photos. I would gladly have Karai stay with Mary Ann again,

Would never leave anything under her care again. Poor communication at best, didn’t follow care instructions. Stated she had experience with large breed dogs but that was not true. Had no idea how to handle & was I’ll equipped to do so. We contacted her on the morning after their first night prior to our departure, she didn’t respond until 6 hours later. And at that point she claimed our dog made an aggressive move & discontinued service. Glad we had departed out of the country. Turns out she hadn’t fed our 143lbs dog in over 24 hrs , even though stated she ate 2x day. Never again!!

This was the first time leaving my dog at anyone other than a family member's house, so I was a bit skeptical and uneasy. Mary Ann's apartment is in a large apartment complex, which didn't appear to have much for grass or trees immediately surrounding where she lives. Upon her answering the door, we were greeted by her very happy, friendly, well-mannered dog. Seeing her dog's behavior made me feel a little bit better about leaving mine. Mary Ann's profile says she accepts dogs of all sizes, but based on the brief encounter that I had with her holding back my dog, a large Labrador retriever, she and her living arrangement seems best for smaller dogs. My dog stayed with her during the daytime for two days, and left both days happy and excited to go back the second day. Communication with Mary Ann was very brief with little conversation, but I can only assume my dog played inside with her dog a good portion of the day based off from my dog's behavior. Overall I would rate the experience as average. I would have liked to have had a bit more communication and perhaps a look at her apartment to see where my dog was going to be. She appears to treat dogs well and be a good person, but again, the lack of communication can make you feel like your dog is with a complete stranger.

I stopped using Mary Ann as her communication with me was poor. She also raised her prices twice and wasn't particularly honest about it. I used her for a few weeks, and spent over $400. I think she is good with dogs, but has no interpersonal skills. I did feel my dog was safe, but for 40$ a night, I expected more.

My old boy did well with Mary Ann, who was communicative and sent lots of pictures during his stay. Thanks, Mary Ann and Tessa.
