5-Star Home Away From Home

Pet care experience

Imagine you're going away but you can't take your beloved pooch with you. Problem solved! You have the peace of mind knowing your dog will be well taken care of at historic Monticello area. Conveniently located near Monte Vista, Medical Center, downtown or suburbs. Your small - medium size dog(s) (up to 30 pounds) will enjoy my single family home with a large fenced-in back yard. No children to ensure your pooch's stay is fun yet calm and relaxing. I have 1 sweet, calm Multipoo, Trixie, who loves other sweet dogs. Our aim is to make your life easier and your pet's life even more enjoyable while you two are apart. Why choose 5-Star Away From Home? I've loved and taken care of dogs all my life. One of my first memories was playing with Patricia, our Cocker Spaniel. I fell in love with dogs at an early age! A few years ago my beloved 14 year old Westie died from kidney failure. Then I rescued Trixie, sweet Multipoo during pandemic. She loves other dogs visiting and is quite the southern hostess. She and I are able to love & take care of your dog when you can't. I work out of my house with a secure enclosed back yard for lots of sniffing, chasing balls and squirrels and exploring all around. Inside there's plenty of space for your dog(s) to lounge, play with toys, be well fed, petted, pampered and feel right at home. I am responsible, caring, and will treat your pet like my own. Your housebroken, well-behaved pooch will have plenty of space to sleep, play, eat and just hang out ... and of course watch TV and snuggle with me too! And your pet can even sleep in the bedroom if they are use to that. My goal is for your pooch to feel at home while you're away. It's like having a trusted friend or family member taking care of your dog when you can't. The first step is to email me about your dog(s) and the dates of your reservation. I'm known for responding quickly. We can set up a Meet and Greet to determine if we're a good match. After the Meet and Greet, we'll confirm your reservation if all goes well. It's a very easy process from initial contact/reservation to dropping off your pooch and picking him/her back up with a calm and happy attitude. My $48 a night fee is for small and small/medium-size dogs up to 30 pounds. The nightly fee is higher for larger dogs, puppies less than 12 months old and holidays. All dogs I accept must get along with other dogs and people since I often host more than one dog at a time. And be neutered. Need other dog related services? Ask me about other dog-related services you might need. Why I love dog sitting I've had dogs all my life. My family had dogs even before I was born. Claudia, my first dog, had puppies when I was about 3 year old. I've been a dog lover ever since then. For the past 25 years I've had Westies. My last Westie, died at 14 yrs old last year of renal failure. Since I wasn't ready, until last year, to get another forever dog, I decided to take care of visiting dogs. I'm all set up to have dogs with a secure fenced in back yard and a house perfect for well behaved dogs. I work out of my house so I'm home a lot and let my visiting dogs lounge in my office while I work and they sleep. So far I've been unable to teach any of the dogs to file or answer the phone! Meet my pet Trixie is a rescue from Houston. She’s a Multipoo, about 3 yrs old, very sweet and calm and loves other dogs. There are no children to disrupt your pooch while he/she is staying with me. About my yard I have a large back yard that is totally fenced in and secure. The yard is large enough to play catch or for dogs to run around and explore. There are lots of trees for dogs to watch squirrels and birds. My experience administering medication I administer pills for my visiting pets who require medication.

Marti's interview process was great and she took the time to get to know my pet and us as owners. She allowed some play time between my dog and hers to check for compatibility and explained the routine my dog would go through. Throughout my dogs stay, she communicated regularly and provided several pictures. We couldn't have asked for a better Rover sitter for our first experience. My dog seemed to enjoy his time there and he was very happy when we picked him up. 10/10 Marti is great!

The best way for us to know if we're a good fit is to set up a Meet and Greet before you book a reservation. We can meet and you can see the backyard and where your pooch will be staying while you're away. It's an easy process. Just email me and we can set up a time that's convenient for both of us.

A typical day

Yes I can take your dog(s) on walks. I also exercise dogs in my backyard since it's large area. Since I am home during the day, I usually let the dogs out at least 4-5 times a day. We can discuss if your dog prefers a walk or likes to run in the back yard. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Where ever he/she feels most comfortable. If your dog is use to sleeping in your bedroom or on your bed, then he/she is welcomed to sleep in the same room with me. Or if your dog prefers his/her crate, then he/she will sleep there. Time I'll spend with your dog I spend a lot of time with my visiting pets since I work from home. My goal is for your pet to feel like they are at home. I treat each dog as if he/she were my own. Usually dogs tend to follow me through out the house and sleep near by me, day and night. Many of my clients say their dog is very calm and contgent when they return home.
