Official "Crazy Kitten Lady" of the Nanaimo SPCA :) ***Please read important notes about pricing for multiple cats at the bottom. In 2020 I was honored for my foster cat work with Nanaimo BCSPCA's Volunteer Award. For the last 3 years I've specialized in fostering kittens/cats needing medical care and socialization. I'm on my 63rd foster and it's been the most rewarding work I've ever done. I started fostering after I had lost my own beloved Vanilla Bean to cancer and was missing a kitty to love on. I realized that I could combine my love of animals with my desire to fight for the little guy. Though I worried it would break my heart to let my fosters go, in reality I am rewarded a million times over when I see pictures of them thriving with their new families. The greatest lesson I've learned from my foster work is to meet an animal where they are. I interact with them in the way they are most comfortable (ie with play or treats) and am a calm and consistent presence for them. I've seen so many scared and shut down animals blossom in this environment and go on to loving and supportive homes. I am also Auntie to multiple cats and dogs (as well as 2 humans) and have pet-sat for friends and family for decades. I offer cat sitting and dog sitting in your home. I can administer medicine/injections/bandage changes as needed and will interact with your pet at the level they feel most comfortable with. You can also follow my life as a foster on Instagram @marthas_foster_kittens and @nanaimocatsitter which is 100% photos and videos of cute kittens with the occasional unflattering photo bomb of yours truly. ***IMPORTANT NOTES*** 1. For clients outside Nanaimo, or very far north, there is a fuel surcharge based on KM. For example Ladysmith is between $5-6 per visit. Please contact me for details. 2. PRICING FOR MULTIPLE CATS Please note that the cost of a drop in visit is $28/30 min regardless of the number of cats you have. If you can, please only book one of your cats in to get accurate pricing. I can also make pricing adjustments on my end if needed.

It was our first time using a petsitter for our cat so I was a bit nervous! I totally expected our cat, Mia, to hide away the two days that Martha was there. She did for the first day - but immediately upgraded to lap cuddles the next day! Hopefully this shows you that Martha is a true cat whisperer. I'll definitely use Martha's services again for our next holiday.
Martha is a very attentive and conscientious pet carer. She made me feel very at ease with leaving my two dogs in her care for walks! I even got photos and videos of them having a nice time with Martha. Communication was clear and I would have no hesitation in recommending Martha to care for your fur children :)

I take all precautions in a clients home. I make sure I lock up carefully and keep everything in order. If I see things that may endanger the pet Linke dangling cords, I will move them out if the way. I keep newspapers papers from piling up so it looks like you're home and if I'm unsure about anything I always communicate.

Pet sitting is my full time profession so I'm able to accommodate many schedules. I'm available most hours of most days, and this includes holidays.
