Most if not all dogs will settle their excitement about an hour after knowing a new dog is present. Most dogs also are fine with each other after a walk. Also bedding is fine, but please be cognizant that some dogs fine certain bedding attractive for peeing or marking. This is the very reason I can no longer have a fur carpet myself lol. And please make sure the bedding is pliable and not too large to fit in a washer. If your dog tends to pull strongly, I strongly recommend using an anti-pull or no-pull collar.
