Come to Camp Marlene

I have had two labradors over the last 33 years -- each of them lived over 16 years. My dear Ruby died earlier this year. Just recently, in August, I adopted a small pittie named Emma. She is sweet and calm and likes every dog she has met so far. I have provided dog sitting to other labs, goldens, terriers, and 'background not confirmed' rescues for friends, relatives, and neighbors for over a dozen years. They are the ones that gave me the nickname Camp (or Spa) Marlene because their dogs had great stays with me. Kiddie pool in summer, trips to a lake (if the dogs have good recall) walks in morning and at night, goodies and lots of snuggles. While I cannot accept cats boarding at my house, I am fine with sitting your dog's cat siblings as well while I am at your house. And, if I do sitting at your house, I would now need to bring my dog Emma along.

Marlene was great! She took great care of our dog Dora. She was great at communicating and kept me updated on how Dora was doing throughout her stay. I will definitely reach out to her again next time.

Marlene did a great job with watching Otso! He had such fun at Camp Marlene and came back a sleepy doggo.

From the beginning, Marlene was extremely flexible in coordinating Freya’s stay. Throughout Freya’s stay, I received consistent updates and pictures, which made me smile each time I saw them. I could tell, both from the pictures and from Freya’s great mood when I arrived for pick up, that she had fun and felt comfortable with Marlene. I was thrilled with Marlene’s services, and I would trust Freya with her any time. I highly recommend Marlene to anyone!!

Marlene is the BEST when it comes to loving and caring for your dog. Whenever she cares for dogs (like our dear Jessie and Stella), Marlene's care is what we call "doggie spa" - she gives them 100% and then some. I am one of many dog owner friends of Marlene that have had our pets stay with her. There is no better place for our dogs to be. None. Marlene's dog experience spans decades, and the dogs she has owned and/or cared for are all the more joyful for her attention. Like I said - the BEST!

Schedule

I work full time, so your dog will get a long walk, snuggles and breakfast before I go to work and likewise with dinner after I return home. If your dog usually goes to a dog park, I can follow that routine as well.

Safety, trust & environment

I only take one client at a time, unless you and a friend already have established friendships between your dogs. I have a ranch house with a fenced backyard. If your dog has trouble with stairs, I have dog ramp to put on my 2 backyard steps to make going outside easy. Your dog is welcome to be free in the house while I am at work, but I have a large crate they can stay in (or bring your own) if they are more comfortable that way. If you want me to sit at your house, I'll follow whatever routine you use when you are gone.

Pets

A typical day

Your dogs will get the exercise they need, according to your typical routine. This means walks and sniffing in the neighborhood, fetch in my backyard, dog park to run if you ordinarily do that -- I don't run, but your dogs can! :) Snuggles and ear scratches, belly rubs and back rubs. And if they want to chase the flower-eating rabbits out of the yard (while hopefully NOT catching them), more power to them.

I'll want to know any special instructions, your vet info, and emergency contact info. If you want your dog to go to the dog park, they need current license & permits.I prefer to meet your dogs prior to boarding or sitting them so I'm not a stranger.
