Animals have always been part of my life—starting with the Dobermans I helped raise as a kid and even a pet pig who thought he was one of the dogs. I’ve worked in the veterinary field, where I learned to safely give medications, handle pets of all temperaments, and notice the small details that keep them healthy and happy. I’ve also worked at Petco, caring for everything from fish and birds to reptiles and small mammals, and I regularly help my neighbor with her pup for walks and playtime. My family has a long history of fostering animals for a local rescue, so caring for pets feels second nature to me. Whether your dog needs an energetic walk, gentle company, or extra care, I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family.🐾

Safety, trust & environment
I provide pets with a safe, clean, and calm environment by making sure they have fresh water, proper feeding, exercise, attention, and supervision throughout the day. I follow the pet owner’s instructions closely regarding schedules, medications, routines, and behavior needs. In a client’s home, I respect the pet’s normal routine to help them feel comfortable and reduce stress. I monitor for any signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior and communicate updates with the owner as needed. I also keep litter boxes, cages, feeding areas, and walking equipment clean and sanitary. For dogs, I provide walks, playtime, potty breaks, and companionship. For cats and other pets, I make sure they receive appropriate feeding, enrichment, and a calm environment suited to their needs. Safety is always a priority, including secure doors, leashes, and supervision around other animals or hazards.

Marlena was amazing with my dog axel! I was pretty nervous doing it because I've only ever left axel with family but marlena sent me pictures daily and updates which made me feel so much better about it. I would definitely let axel stay with her and her family again

Schedule
I work weekdays from 8 AM–4 PM, during the school year, which allows me to be available in evenings, and weekends for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting. I enjoy staying active, and spending that time with dogs is a perfect fit for my lifestyle. I always follow each pet’s specific instructions, including feeding schedules, walking preferences, and any special care needs. Whether your dog needs a calm walk, extra attention, or just a friendly face while you’re away, I treat every pet like my own and aim to make them feel safe and cared for.
