Pet care experience
Home all day, big dogs, big garden
My aim is simple: to give your dog a comfortable, happy home-from-home while you're away, with the same care, routine and attention our own dog enjoys every day. Dogs have been part of my life since childhood. Over the years, I've shared my home with Gypsy, a 35kg German Shepherd, and Dark Knight (DK), a 30kg Belgian Shepherd. Today, I live with Sunnie, my friendly and playful 2-year-old German Shepherd x Sproodle. Having lived with large, intelligent and energetic breeds, I understand that dogs need more than just a walk, they need engagement, consistency and someone who understands their individual personality. I've also cared for friends' Border Collies, so I'm very familiar with the energy, intelligence and stimulation needs of high-drive breeds. Large dogs and active breeds are a particular passion of mine. I've cared for a 35kg German Shepherd alongside Sunnie for multiple nights and I'm comfortable walking and managing two or more strong, energetic dogs together. Sunnie enjoys meeting and playing with dogs of all sizes, but I would always make sure every visiting dog feels comfortable and has space to relax when they need it. Medical and additional needs welcome. Dark Knight had epilepsy, so I have experience recognising seizures, staying calm during an episode, providing reassurance afterwards and managing medication. If your dog has specific routines, medication or additional needs, we candiscuss this carefully before their stay. Exercise, enrichment and fresh air every day. Sunnie and I enjoy two walks every day of at least 45 minutes through open fields, along rivers and through woodland... whatever the weather! Your dog will join us, with walks adapted to their age, breed, fitness level and personality. Lead walks are always available, and off-lead walks are only offered with your agreement and where it is safe and appropriate. Secure enclosed field hire can also be arranged with advance notice. A calm home with plenty of company. I work from home and am around for most of the day, meaning your dog will have companionship, supervision and attention throughout their stay. I have a secure, fully fenced garden where dogs can safely enjoy some outdoor time. Dogs are welcome to relax and become part of the family, although I don't allow dogs on the bed. I am also experienced with crate training and can accommodate a crate if your dog prefers to sleep that way. Whether your dog is staying for a weekend or a longer visit, my goal is simple: for them to feel safe, settled and cared for, and for you to have peace of mind knowing they are in good hands.

Ratings and reviews
Mark is an incredibly attentive, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter. My German Shepherd has stayed with him several times, and every visit feels like a holiday for him! He gets so excited to see Mark, which gives me complete peace of mind. Knowing my dog is not only safe and well cared for, but also genuinely happy and having such a wonderful time, is priceless. Mark treats every dog as if they were his own, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly. Any dog owner would be lucky to have him care for their pet.
I've known Mark for over 30 years and highly recommend him. He is a responsible dog owner and for 2 years sat for my beloved Dylan like he was his own. Any dog left in his care will be very well looked after and have a great time!

Schedule
I work from home and am around for most of the day, so dogs staying with me receive plenty of companionship, supervision and attention. Apart from short trips such as food shopping or going to the gym a few times a week, I'm at home. I start my days early and can easily adapt my routine to suit your dog's usual schedule, including feeding times, medication and exercise.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Your dog's safety, comfort and wellbeing are always my top priorities. I provide home boarding for dogs from one household at a time, helping to create a calm and stress-free environment. We have a large, secure fenced garden where dogs can safely explore, play and relax, and they are treated as part of the family throughout their stay. Whether your dog enjoys lots of activity or prefers a quieter pace, I adapt their care to suit their individual needs and routine. I'm experienced with crate-trained dogs and can accommodate a crate if preferred. I'm also comfortable administering oral medication and following any specific care instructions to help your dog feel settled, safe and at home.

A typical day
Every dog is different, so I adapt the day to suit their usual routine as much as possible. Our mornings start early, with a relaxed walk of at least 45 minutes through open fields, woodland and riverside paths before breakfast. After that, it's time to relax at home, enjoy the garden, play with Sunnie if they want to, or simply find a quiet spot to settle down. Throughout the day there is plenty of companionship, as I work from home and am around for most of the day. Dogs are never treated as "just another booking" – they become part of the family during their stay. In the afternoon or early evening, depending on the weather and the time of year, we head out for another walk of at least 45 minutes. During warmer weather I always adjust walk times, check pavement temperatures and make sure dogs stay cool and comfortable. If we're near the river, there's often the opportunity for a paddle or swim for dogs that enjoy the water. Back at home, there's time to unwind, have dinner, enjoy some fuss and attention, and settle down for a peaceful night's sleep. Whether your dog loves to play, explore or simply relax, I aim to make them feel safe, comfortable and right at home from the moment they arrive until it's time to see you again.
