I am currently a full-time Master's student at Columbia University on the Upper West Side, with classes Monday through Thursday. During the week, I'm available for evening walks, drop-in visits, or overnight house sitting after classes, and I'm happy to spend the rest of the evening keeping your pet company. My schedule is much more flexible from Friday through Sunday, allowing me to provide multiple walks, extended drop-in visits, or house sitting with full-time presence. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles on the couch, or simply having someone nearby, I'll make sure they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and care while you're away. I always strive to follow your pet's normal routine as closely as possible, so they feel safe, comfortable, and happy in their own environment.

I pride myself on being adaptable. While I have extensive experience caring for my own pets, I've also looked after many friends' and family's cats and dogs. I understand that every pet has a unique personality, routine, and comfort level, and that every owner has their own preferences for how their pet is cared for. I'm committed to following your pet's routine as closely as possible, whether that's feeding schedules, medications, walks, playtime, or simply giving them the type of attention they enjoy most. Before each booking, I'm happy to discuss your pet's specific needs and your expectations so we can ensure a smooth, stress-free transition while you're away. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, loved, and comfortable—and to give you complete peace of mind.

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Mark, and I'm currently a Master's student at Columbia University. I recently relocated to New York City and have been missing my cat, Zuko, and my dog, Jango, every day. I'm hoping to fill that pet-shaped void by caring for other people's furry family members through Rover! Dog Experience: I adopted my dog, Jango, about a year ago after fostering him through a local rescue organization. He was being fostered by my downstairs neighbor, and we formed an instant connection that quickly turned into a forever home. Like many young rescue dogs, Jango came with plenty of energy and a few mischievous habits—especially when it came to sniffing out unattended food (that's the Dachshund nose at work!). Since adopting him, I've invested countless hours into positive reinforcement training, consistency, and building good household manners. Friends and family have even commented on how much calmer and more well-behaved he's become. Because of that experience, I understand the importance of patience, routine, and prevention when caring for energetic dogs. I'm happy to reinforce the training and routines you're already using while providing your pup with plenty of exercise, attention, and love. Cat Experience: I adopted my cat, Zuko, when he was just 8 weeks old back in 2019 while I was in college. He's now a happy, healthy 6-year-old! As a first-time cat owner, I spent a lot of time researching feline nutrition, enrichment, and overall health to make sure he had the best care possible. Over the years, Zuko has had a few visits to the vet for urinary health concerns, so I've become familiar with recognizing early signs that something may be wrong and understand the importance of monitoring litter box habits. While he's now spoiled with an automatic litter box and feeder, I'm very comfortable caring for cats with traditional litter boxes, food and water bowls, and daily playtime and affection.

Over the years I’ve known him, I’ve observed Mark has a special connection with dogs and cats. He has been exceedingly loving to his cat Zuko and ready to provide the best care for him at all times. He is firm but gentle with boundaries and training, never reinforcing bad behaviors and rewarding positive ones. I could not recommend a better petsitter who will prioritize the safety and wellbeing of your pet. Mark is highly experienced, responsible, and most importantly, an animal lover.

Mark is an animal lover through and through- developing such special bonds with the ones he petsits no matter the length of time, and being an incredibly attentive pet parent himself. He always puts the pet first, catering to their schedule, nutritional needs, and giving them loads of affection and enrichment activities. Mark flourishes with the responsibility of caring for any animal, and anyone having him watch over their loved ones should know they are in capable, loving hands.

Mark has watched my family dog for weeks at a time on multiple occasions and we wouldn't trust our beloved fur baby with anyone else! We use to really worry about leaving our dog for long trips as he can be anxious and disinterested in bonding with strangers until we took a chance with Mark and we're blown away with how close they've gotten! He has cultivated a great bond with our dog, Biggie, who is now always excited to stay with Mark. Biggie has a sensitive stomach and we are so grateful to have had someone as attentive and caring as Mark who went out of his way to cater to Biggie's special diet needs. (He also sends super cute pictures of our dog which is a huge plus when we're away.) Not only is he great with dogs, he has also watched my senior FIV+ cat with ease. It's clear to me that Mark is great with animals, extremely reliable, communicative, and knowledgeable. I couldn't recommend him enough. Your pets will love him and you'll never want a different pet sitter/walker again!
