Pet care experience

Flexible schedule, Cuddler, Loving

I have owned 3 dogs and 2 cats throughout my lifetime, starting when I was ten. I have pet sitted for many friends, family, and neighbors as well, of all different breeds and sizes. I love playing with and snuggling with them and will monitor them looking for any irregular behaviors or any major changes in mood or appetite. I always shower dogs with love and kindness, just as any pet parent would do.

I’m really happy that I came across Marissa to take care of my cat, Mano. I could tell that Mano was comfortable and happy under Marissa’s care and I really like that I got photos and videos throughout the stay, as it gave me peace of mind from thousands of miles away. I’d definitely rebook with Marissa in the future!

I couldn’t be happier with the care and attention my dog received! marissa was reliable, communicative, and clearly has a real love for animals. They kept me updated with pictures and messages every day, which really put my mind at ease while I was away. When I came home, my dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well taken care of. It was such a relief to know my pet was in such good hands. I would absolutely recommend [dog sitter’s name] to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter, and I will definitely be booking again in the future. Thank you for treating my dog like your own!

Both our fur babies enjoyed staying at Marissa’s. She took great care of them. She sent me several pictures and a video. From those, it’s easily tell dogs were having fun and also relaxed. Marissa responded promptly to all my messages. Very reliable!

Drop-In Visits • Jan 16, 2025

Marissa was initially very good to work with. She responded quickly and set up a date to meet the kittens and go over care details prior to the dates of drop in. Everything appeared fine the day she showed up (the same day I left, Friday). However, after that initial visit she did not show up the next day, Saturday. On Sunday morning, I reached out to her via text and did not hear back. I called her in the afternoon and the call went to voicemail after a few rings. I waited a few more hours and then reached out to Rover customer support since she had not shown up or answered. Customer service said their policy is for them to reach out to the sitter themselves and give them an hour to respond. Marissa ended up texting me back about a half hour later stating she was sick and did not make it to the house the day before but would go over that night. However, at that point I had already reached out to coworkers and set them up to check in on my cats for the rest of my trip. After that we set a date for her to return my house key which did not happen until a day after we scheduled for. While I completely understand that emergencies happen and people get sick or have car problems arise, my issue is the lack of communication. I should have been contacted to make other arrangements as soon as she realized she would not be able to check in on my cats that second stay. She may have assumed it would be okay because we have automated feeders that connect to a collar that the cats wear, but I did inform her prior to the trip that they do not always work and as expected and the collars can be accidentally removed. As I had informed her may happen, one of the cats’ collars was removed so he could not access the feeder and according to the feeding log on the device my cat was unable eat from Friday night until my coworker checked in on them on Sunday evening and fix it. The same thing would’ve happened if we had standard bowls that needed to be manually filled daily and she did not show up. Marissa put my cats in an awful situation where instead I should have been contacted immediately to ensure that they were fed and taken care of and that she was not paid for days she did not complete the drop in.

I am a preschool teacher with a part time schedule and so I would be home for most of the day to let your dog out to potty and take for an afternoon/evening walk when needed.

Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present

Safety, trust & environment

I have a large fenced in yard and I often go out and throw frisbees or balls for the dogs to chase. I also live around the corner to a park with a walking trail and am very close to a dog park as well. I also have experience with crating dogs if/when needed.

A typical day

I will take your pup(s) to the dog park and throw balls and toys for them as well as take them on long walks on the trails. I also love to cuddle on the couch with them if that is what your pet is used to while enjoying a good book/movie.
