Pet care experience

the holistic caregiver 🐾

Hey all, thank you soo much for being here!! My name is Mari and have been happily caring for both animals and humans for well over a decade now. One thing that makes my approach to caregiving rather unique is how I pay attention to the subtle body language and tune into their emotional states of my clients. Animals, for example, are in constant communication with us. I am gifted at sensing their “location”, ie, emotional capacities, and using that information to help guide them to points of safety, feeling understood, seen, and relaxed that is often a game changer for them. Animals are anxious and afraid in general, not because we are doing anything wrong as their owners - it is what happens when a naturally wild animal is domesticated, evolutionary, over time. They are confused by the repressed energetics - ie, what they feel inside with what they experience externally. The result is a cyclical physical dissonance. I enjoy helping bridge the gap to witness them grow, and honestly, so we can have loads of fun within our pack! 🐶 Inside my care, we indirectly work on tuning into “the animal within,” who is mentally strong and curious by nature, by releasing repressed anxieties to free up space to explore and connect with their surroundings in a new way, that is tailored to them. I incorporate subtle ancient methods of the soma (body) by using intentional sound, (singing & speaking), touch & massage, (if they are open to that), and interactive movement and play, (stimulating their heart, body, and mind.). At the end, animals are animals: lovable, curious, mostly innocent, babies who need emotional and spiritual stimulation, love, and care just as much as humans. The consensus from my clients has often been shock and gratitude as their animals seem to return home feeling more grounded and “themself”. Outside of caregiving, I am somatic guide who is on a personal self-study and quest to overcome my own mental ailments and physical constraints for the past 15 years, and have successfully helped many loved ones overcome their own pain and grief to find freedom and fulfillment as well. This what I am passionate about more than anything on this earth, and I really believe in the universal benefits of being an anchor and guide for others. I enjoy pet-care, especially, because it is an easy way to give back. My overall goal is to create a calm, happy environment where the animals can play, explore, and ultimately, be themselves. Boarding PSA: I recently adopted two sweet pups who were once my clients and now part of our family!! They are both small dogs, loving, playful, and very social. They enjoy playtime but are generally calm and welcoming with new dogs, which helps visiting pups settle in comfortably. If your dog enjoys companionship, lots of attention, and a loving environment, they will likely fit right in with us!! I am always thrilled to do a meet & greet to ensure everyone feels comfortable. I look forward to hearing from you!! Mari 💖

Boarding • May 03, 2026

This was my first time leaving my dog for several days, and I used to have to drive all the way to Round Rock for boarding. Luckily, Marissa now offers boarding in my neighborhood. My dog isn’t very social, but she and her dogs welcomed him so warmly. She sent daily pictures, and he looked so happy and comfortable with them. We’ll definitely be back :)

Schedule

Animal care is my full-time focus, so the dogs are with me most of the day. My schedule is flexible, which allows for plenty of playtime, outdoor time, and attention throughout the day.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has a fenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 2 dogs
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs not allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and comfort always come first. I introduce dogs slowly, and pay close attention to body language so everyone feels comfortable. Our home is calm and welcoming, and every dog is treated like family. I also send plenty of updates and photos so you can feel connected while you are away!

Pets

A typical day

Our days usually include outdoor time in the sun, play, exploring, and lots of smiles, good times, and focused attention! We balance activity with plenty of downtime too …some dogs love to play all day while others prefer relaxing and cuddles, I follow their rhythm!

0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Spayed and neutered dogs only
No females in heat
Crate-trained dogs only
Takes only 1 client at a time
Marissa can host up to 3 pets per night
I love learning getting to know each dog’s personality! It is helpful to know their routines: feeding schedule, anxieties, things they love (toys, walks, cuddling, etc).
