Loving Care for Every Paw 🐾

Hi! My name is Marissa, I’m 29 years old, and I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. I’m caring, dependable, patient, and attentive, and I understand just how important it is to find someone you can truly trust with a member of your family. I recently completed my Associate of Arts in Psychology, which has been an important personal accomplishment for me. While my education has focused on people, patience, communication, understanding behavior, and paying attention to individual needs are qualities I also bring into the way I care for animals. I have around 20 years of personal experience caring for dogs and more than five years of experience helping care for other people’s pets. Over the years, friends, family, neighbors, and Rover clients have trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, play with, supervise, and care for their animals. Having cared for dogs with different breeds, sizes, personalities, energy levels, and needs has taught me that every dog is an individual. Some want to spend their time playing and exploring, while others would happily curl up beside you all day. Some warm up immediately, while anxious or shy dogs may need extra patience and space to become comfortable. I believe in getting to know the animal in front of me rather than expecting every pet to respond the same way. I also have a dog of my own, Flicka, so I understand the other side of pet care too. I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog with another person and how reassuring it can be to know they’re safe, comfortable, and receiving plenty of attention. I’m interested in continuing to expand my knowledge of animal care, including completing pet CPR and first-aid training. I would also eventually like to further my education in areas such as grooming and dog behavior and training. Most importantly, when your pet is with me, I want them to be treated with the same patience, affection, attention, and respect that I would want someone to give my own dog. 🐾

I will never know how good Marissa was because she cancelled on me less than 48 hours before our booking. I should not be charged for this. I had to cancel my plane trip because of her. Don't book with this person.

Marissa was a great dogsitter! We had never left our dogs with anyone while on vacation and it worked out perfectly! We will absolutely hire her again when we need someone to watch our pups!!

Schedule

Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine, and I currently have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the animals in my care. I am available for dog walking, drop-in visits, doggy daycare, and boarding throughout the week, including many mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Because my schedule is flexible, I can often accommodate different routines, whether your pet needs an early morning potty break, midday walk, afternoon playtime, evening visit, or more consistent care throughout the day. I do my best to maintain each pet’s normal feeding, exercise, potty, medication, and sleep schedule so their routine is disrupted as little as possible while you’re away. I also have my own dog, Flicka, so caring for animals is already a part of my everyday life!

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I carefully follow all instructions you provide regarding feeding, medications, potty routines, walks, behavioral needs, household rules, and anything else that helps your pet feel comfortable and secure. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect both your home and your pet’s established routine. I make sure doors, gates, leashes, harnesses, and other safety measures are secure, and I never assume that every animal has the same needs or comfort level. For pets staying in my home, I have my own dog, Flicka. Because every dog has a different personality, I want to make sure everyone will be comfortable together before an extended stay. Introductions and meet-and-greets are very important to me. I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos while your pet is in my care. I know how reassuring it is to see that your pet is safe, happy, and being well cared for while you’re away.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day will depend on your pet because I like to tailor their time with me to their personality, energy level, age, and normal routine! For an active dog, our day might include walks, outdoor playtime, games, enrichment activities, and plenty of opportunities to explore and burn off some energy. For a lower-energy or older dog, we can enjoy shorter walks, relaxed play, lots of affection, and plenty of time to nap and get comfortable. With the owner’s permission, I’m also happy to incorporate adventures such as longer walks, local trails, parks, or other dog-friendly activities that are appropriate for your pet. Of course, there will be plenty of potty breaks, fresh water, meals according to your instructions, treats when allowed, playtime, cuddles, and rest throughout the day. My goal isn’t to give every dog the exact same day—it’s to figure out what makes your pet happy and give them a day they’ll enjoy! 🐾

The more I know about your pet, the better I can care for them! Please tell me about their normal routine, personality, energy level, feeding schedule, potty habits, medications, allergies, medical needs, favorite activities, and anything that makes them particularly happy or comfortable. I would also like to know about any anxiety, fears, triggers, escape tendencies, resource guarding, reactivity, separation anxiety, or history of aggression or biting. Please be completely honest—having behavioral quirks doesn’t automatically mean I won’t care for your pet! Knowing ahead of time simply allows me to keep everyone safe and provide the right kind of care. For daycare and boarding requests, I also need to know how your dog typically interacts with other dogs because I have a dog of my own, Flicka. A meet-and-greet may be necessary before the booking to make sure everyone is comfortable. Please also let me know about leash behavior, recall, crate use, where your pet normally sleeps, whether they are allowed on furniture, and any household rules you would like me to maintain. And most importantly, tell me all of their little quirks—the favorite toy they can’t sleep without, the exact spot they like scratched, or the silly thing that always gets their tail wagging. Those details help me make their time away from you feel a little more like home. ❤️🐾
