Where Every Dog Belongs
Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I've shared my home with everything from energetic puppies to senior dogs, including German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. My heart dog was a retired Explosives Detection K9 who taught me more than I ever imagined about patience, consistency, and meeting the dog in front of me. Our journey included professional training, crate training, e-collar conditioning, muzzle training, enrichment, hiking, and learning how to confidently navigate reactivity. It wasn't always easy, but it gave me a deep appreciation for the time, love, and dedication that goes into raising every dog. I'm not a professional trainer, and I won't pretend to be. My role is to provide safe, reliable, compassionate care while maintaining the routines you've worked so hard to establish. Whether that means reinforcing good manners, sticking to feeding and medication schedules, keeping up with enrichment, or simply giving your dog plenty of love and attention, I'll care for them the way I'd want someone to care for my own. I have experience with puppies who need patience and consistency, adult dogs with big personalities, and senior dogs who deserve a little extra gentleness and care. Every dog is different, and I believe that's exactly what makes them so special.

Ratings and reviews
Marissa and Kevin are truly a needle in a haystack here on Rover. They are extremely attentive, caring, and understanding of our pups unique behaviors and needs. They have a wonderful home and outdoor space. They took our pup on many adventures and made sure he was very well loved throughout his stay—the pictures we received were AMAZING. We are so relieved to have found Marissa and Kevin and have already planned many more boarding sessions with them.

Where do I even start? Marissa is hands down the greatest pet parent I’ve ever known. Despite the emotional tax that rescuing an abused dog can bring, she has never shied from that challenge. The sheer amount of compassion she brings to dogs that others would label as “troubled” or “broken” is truly something that is incredible to witness. Around the clock training, custom diets, and the almost ridiculous amount of belly rubs she provides for her dogs is a mental and financial responsibility that most people would turn down. Recently, Marissa and her partner lost their dog who was no exception to that “troubled” label. She was a gorgeous girl who just so happened to have a strong opposition for other dogs, which alone would be too much for most people. For the past 5 years, they’ve led a life completely devoted to Wiccan’s needs and special requirements, even if that meant making sacrifices for themselves. However, this also led them to seek out incredible places all over the states, that they otherwise may have missed. Even while having a need for more seclusion out of respect for other dog owners as well as dog safety, Wiccan never stopped them from living out their normal outdoorsy lives. Even though she preferred the couch, she was always a welcomed addition at the campsite. Now, while navigating this adjustment period, they want to provide a safe and loving environment for dogs while deciding their next steps/adoption options. They live in an incredible area very close to a walking trail by the river. However, if that’s not your dog’s vibe, they also have a grassy yard with plenty of space for your furry friends to frolic to their hearts desire. Plus, the couch is never off limits! I genuinely couldn’t recommend a better person to entrust your dogs to, because at the end of it all…for Marissa and her partner, they aren’t just dogs, they’re family.

Schedule
My partner and I both work from home, so your four-legged family member will have someone around throughout the day. Whether they enjoy playtime, naps on the couch, or simply having a familiar presence nearby, they'll receive plenty of attention, companionship, and care while you're away.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. My home features two fully fenced yards. One grassy for sniffing, exploring, and play, and one concrete patio that's perfect for potty breaks, relaxing, or soaking up the sunshine. On those hot Philadelphia days, I can also set up a puppy pool for dogs who enjoy splashing around and cooling off. I know every dog has different routines and comfort levels, so I'll work with you to maintain the schedule and care they're used to at home. Whether your pup loves adventure, enrichment, or simply a cozy place to nap, my goal is to provide a calm and safe environment where they can feel right at home while you're away.
