Pet care is my full-time job and passion. I run my own business, Shining Light’s K9 Services, from home, so caring for dogs is part of my daily routine from morning to night. I structure my day around feeding schedules, walks, playtime, training sessions, and any special care each pet needs. Because this is my full-time work, I have the flexibility to give your pet consistent attention, exercise, and companionship throughout the day.

In my home, I offer multiple sleeping options so your dog feels at ease—whether that’s a cozy crate, a comfy dog bed in my living room, or even in my bedroom if that’s what they’re used to. I maintain a clean, secure environment, with constant supervision and safe spaces for rest or play. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow your instructions exactly to keep their routine consistent and stress-free. I make sure food, water, and medications are given on schedule, and I always take time for walks, play, and affection. Whether at my home or yours, my goal is to ensure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away.

It’s important for me to know about any health issues, special needs, or medications your pet requires so I can provide the best care possible. I also need to understand your pet’s behavior and temperament—especially how they interact with other dogs and new people. Please share any triggers, fears, or quirks your pet may have, as well as their daily routine, activity level, and preferred play style. The more I know about your pet’s likes, dislikes, and boundaries, the better I can keep them safe, comfortable, and happy while they’re with me.
A typical day
Trips to local parks and nature walks are always my favorite, giving pups plenty of fresh air and mental stimulation. I love playing fetch in safe, enclosed areas and incorporating games that challenge both their body and mind. Belly rubs are always a must, along with plenty of cuddle time for the more relaxed pups. For higher-energy dogs, I mix in jogging, structured leash walks, and training games to keep them focused and happy. Shy or anxious dogs get extra patience, gentle encouragement, and activities that help build confidence. No matter the energy level or personality, I make sure every dog gets a perfect balance of exercise, enrichment, and affection throughout the day.

About Me Hi, I’m Marissa, owner of Shining Light’s K9 Services! Open all year round. I have extensive experience caring for dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments—including those with aggression, reactivity, or other behavioral challenges. Over the years, I’ve worked in multiple dog hotels/doggy daycares, in pet grooming, and as a freelance trainer, giving me a well-rounded understanding of canine care and behavior. I specialize in creating a safe, structured, and comfortable environment for every dog I work with. Whether your pet needs a calm walk, a high-energy run, targeted training, or simply loving companionship, I tailor my approach to their unique needs. Administering medications is never an issue, and I pride myself on excellent communication so you can feel at ease while you’re away. Your dog’s safety, happiness, and progress are always my top priorities. With me, your fur baby will be in experienced, loving, and capable hands.

We had a great experience with Marissa as Jynx’s dog sitter over the holiday. She communicated with us and made sure we knew how Jynx was doing. Jynx can be sensitive to loud noises, and Marissa was incredibly attentive and comforting when Jynx was scared. The most absolute all in one dog or puppy care an owner can ask for. Professional, loving and caring! A one stop shop for all of your pets needs. I’m a very skeptical and picky person when it comes to care for my loved ones. I felt very comfortable and felt that Blaze was in good hands! No anxiety while at work and plenty of pic's, showing how happy he was while there. I will be using Marissa for all of Blaze’s daycare, boarding, and training needs!
My dog Bambi and I highly recommend Marissa. We have enlisted her services many-a-times. She’s amazing! She sends picture updates that just give your the warmest feeling that your dog is in the right hands (paws).
Marissa was our regular dog sitter for our black lab, Kaly, for daily walks and also the occasional weekends away. Marissa has an incredible way with all animals. She treated Kaly, just as if she was her own. We were very sad when she moved out of our area and highly recommended her to anyone looking for a dependable and loving sitter for their dog.
