Since the most recent passing of my dog Pumbaa, I have a pet-free home that I would love to open up to dogs in need of a comfortable, cozy place to sleep, play & relax while you are away from them. I work in the safe & security industry as a locksmith & safe technician. My schedule varies daily as I drive from job to job. Some projects of mine can be done from home. I also have the ability to stop home between jobs. I am generally home on weekends but love to go hiking with your dog if allowed. I will be honest that my schedule varies and some days are lighter than others. I tend to be home no later than 5pm during the week but we can discuss my schedule on a case by case basis. Your dog would of course be a priority of mine on the days they are at my home.

Safety, trust & environment

My home is secured with outdoor & indoor cameras. I am always able to keep an eye on your pup even when I am not at the house. The large backyard is fully fenced; the majority of the fence is a 6 ft privacy fence whereas a small section is a 4 ft chain link fence. You can see this space in some photos and see it in person during a meet & greet. All house plants are set on higher surfaces to keep them away from animals. All food is kept secured. Garbage cans are either inside of cabinets or closed with a lid. Pets are never left alone in the yard, I always keep an eye on them when we go outside. If you approve them to leave the home to go on nearby hikes or even a walk at Sloan's Lake, I have a Kurgo brand seatbelt I use to keep them safe & secured in the car. My home is 1 mile from VEG Edgewater location. (Animal Emergency room) I love taking photos so I will be sending you plenty of those if you have requested photos.

Information Mario C. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs I should be aware of. Does your pet need medications? Likes or dislikes? Know any special commands? The more info you can provide me, the better. This allows me to make sure your dog feels comfortable while you are away. Printed notes/instructions are always helpful so that I don't have to reach out to you with many questions during your travels.

A typical day

A typical day will vary based on your dogs individual needs. I have a large fenced yard where we can play fetch and your dog can sunbathe. We can also go on neighborhood walks; I have short or long walks we can do depending on their energy levels. I am even open to taking your dog somewhere for a long hike with your permission. I always use a safety dog seatbelt when traveling with any animal.

Pet care experience

I have had dogs, cats and other varieties of animals my entire life. I got my first dog as an adult when I lived in Hawaii and she became my service dog. Roxi was a sweet, German Shepherd mix who had a lot of energy to burn on hikes & playing fetch. I spent a lot of time training her to be the best, well-mannered girl. She had amazing recall and we would spend hours each day exercising by playing fetch with her favorite toys or a stick. She was trained to lay at my feet during flights. We went on countless hikes, did a lot of swimming and covered a lot of miles together. After losing Roxi due to sudden cancer, my girlfriend at the time moved in with her senior hound named Ellie. Ellie was a tough cookie but as she continued to age, we had a lot of tough nights of accidents in the house, emergency room visits, & we had to administer a lot of medications to keep her comfortable. Because of my experience with her, I am very comfortable with senior dogs who might need a little extra help here & there! I have no trouble giving medication to your pet(s). Ellie also trained me on how to fix her eggs, chicken, and whatever else she wanted when she decided to be picky! I also have experience with reactive dogs. We did a foster to adopt of a big-headed pittie mix we named Pumbaa. Pumbaa was a gentle giant with people but did not like other dogs. I am very used to distracting or simply turning in another direction to avoid confrontation. He was 80 lbs of dog to control during those high stress moments so I feel very prepared to handle any situation when it comes to your pet who may not enjoy other animals. Sadly, Pumbaa also passed due cancer this past April which is why I have decided to open my home to your pet(s) and take a little break from dog ownership for the time being. I also have experience handling shelter dogs. We would occasionally take a shelter dog out on a hike to give the dog a break from it's every day environment which was always a very fulfilling thing to do. I am very attentive to your dogs needs and want to know all your pets preferences when they stay here so they can feel right at home.

Mario took such incredible care of Mardi! He was so responsive, sent pictures, took him out for walks, and went above and beyond in every way! Mardi didn’t want to come home!

Mario is an incredible dog sitter, and took such great care of my dog Finn. We’ve used many Rovers in the Denver area, and Mario was one of the best of the best. He was accommodating and communicative, but even more importantly, he matched my dog’s energy very organically and clearly was prepared to meet all of his needs. I’m excited to use him again, and highly recommend him.

Mario was stellar and trustworthy in handling our “giant puppy” for us for a day. We sincerely appreciated his willingness to help us out with a last minute request, and we could tell our girl received nonstop love and attention all day as she crashed when she got home! He has beds, bowls, and all kinds of engaging activities ready to go, as well as obvious experience in handling dogs that put us at ease when it was time to leave our dog in his care. Would gladly use his services again. Thanks Mario!

Mario is the best! I have a dog who can be anxious and he was so patient with him. It was nice to not have to worry about Rawls because I knew he was in good hands
