Availability

I'm available throughout the week and genuinely love having pets around, the more the merrier. Outside of caring for my own three pups and any active fosters, I have a flexible, open schedule that makes it easy to give visiting pets real time and attention, not just check-ins. Weekends work great too. I'm not just fitting pet care in around a packed calendar, it's a priority, not an afterthought.

Safety, trust & environment

My dogs free-roam at home, and I'm experienced at managing a multi-dog household safely, including around food and toy guarding situations. My own pups range from 60–90 lbs, so large breeds are totally comfortable here and very welcome. Through fostering, I've worked with reactive dogs, puppies, and pregnant mamas...and I've even delivered a litter of puppies in my home. I've also done hands-on training and confidence-building work with fosters who needed extra patience and support. I'm very tuned in to dog body language and behavior. I pay attention to what a dog is telling me, and I adjust my approach based on what they actually need, not just what the routine calls for.

Information Marilyn G. would like to know about your pet

Every dog I've had has been completely different, from independent spirits who do their own thing, to velcro dogs who need constant reassurance and every single pet. I love them all, and I know how to meet them where they are. That said, the more you tell me upfront, the better! A few things that are super helpful to know: energy level, any food allergies or sensitivities, reactivity around other dogs, people, or animals, whether they're picky eaters, if they have a favorite toy or comfort item, and if they have a preferred walk route. The goal is for your baby to feel like they never left home, so the more details, the better I can make that happen.

A typical day

It depends entirely on the dog or cat, and I love that. Some pups want to spend the afternoon cuddled on the couch watching TV, (totally valid), that's my vibe too. Others are built for long walks and come alive outside. Some love the dog park and want to socialize with everyone they meet. And some just need a good case of the zoomies, which in my house means full laps around the kitchen island until we're all worn out. I follow the pet's lead and make sure they're having fun in whatever way feels natural to them.

Pet care experience

I currently have three fur babies of my own: Gia and Grizzly, who are littermates, and Blondie, who I found the day before I moved into my current home — I'm convinced she was a housewarming gift from the universe. My household also includes my cousin and roommate Jackeline, whose cat Stormy keeps everyone on their toes, so yes... cats are absolutely welcome here too! ◡̈ Beyond my own babies, I'm an active foster for Heart of the Underdog, a Houston-based rescue nonprofit. I also volunteer at the Houston Humane Society, and throughout college I spent weekends walking dogs for Friends for Life, another Houston rescue. Caring for animals has been a constant thread throughout my adult life, not an occasional thing. I'm embedded in my East Downtown (EaDo) neighborhood and have been an informal go-to sitter for neighbors' dogs and cats for years. **** I've recently added a new experience to my resume: one of my foster dogs gave birth in my home, so I'm officially experienced in newborn puppy care too. I'm the happiest version of myself when I'm surrounded by animals and helping them have a better quality of life. This isn't just a side gig for me, it's genuinely my happy place.

Marilyn is the dog whisperer! Ever since I known her she has had so much love for animals. Dogs In particular is her specialty, the way that she treats her babygirl Bree is just heart warming to know someone could love a dog so unconditionally! She is the best with her and I’m sure she will do the same to those animals that she will take care of! She will treat them like if all of them are her Bree Bree! Def recommend her 100%, she will not disappoint!
