Pet care experience

Calm, Reliable & Animal-Loving Care

I’ve cared for animals for over 25 years, from tiny hamsters and ferrets to confident cats and sensitive dogs. I understand that every pet has their own personality, preferences, and pace, and I adapt my care to match. I’m especially good with shy animals, neurodivergent households, and pets who need a calm, gentle presence. I never rush visits, and I pay close attention to routines, body language, and comfort levels. I have experience with puppies, seniors, nervous rescues, cats who prefer minimal interaction, and high-energy breeds who need stimulation and structure. I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and treat every home and every pet with the same care I give my own. My goal is simple: for you to feel fully at ease, and for your pet to feel safe, understood, and cared for.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

When I care for your pets, I always prioritise safety, comfort, and low-stress routines so they feel secure while you’re away. Animals thrive in familiar environments, so all care takes place in your home, following their normal daily rhythm. What I do during each visit • Follow your exact feeding schedule and dietary instructions • Refresh water so it’s always clean • Clean litter trays, food areas, or small-pet spaces • Provide playtime, enrichment, cuddles, or quiet companionship, whatever your pet prefers • Respect boundaries for shy or anxious animals • Basic home checks (lights, curtains, post, bins, doors and windows locked) • Administer medication if needed • Keep everything clean, tidy, and exactly how I found it Your pet’s routine continues smoothly, helping to reduce stress and keep them happy. Communication & Peace of Mind After each visit, you receive: • Photos or videos • A written update • Notes on food, water, litter, behaviour and mood You’ll always know how your pet is doing. My Approach I care for animals with: • gentleness • patience • observation • calm handling • respect for each pet’s personality With many years of caring for my own animals (including cats, dogs and small pets) I understand how to create a safe, reassuring environment where pets feel loved and supported while you’re away.

Marriette looked after my two cats when I was away for one month holiday. She kept telling me how they got on with photos very frequently. I was able to enjoy my holiday without worrying about them. She was a great carer

Mariette was brilliant with our cat Pan, and he took to her straight away. The updates and photos she sent were great to receive and very reassuring. She is very reliable and I would totally recommend.

Mariette was great! Very easy going, well organised and super understanding of my nervous-of-strangers ex-rescue mog. Will definitely look to book her again.

Schedule

Animals shape the rhythm of my days. I work from home and keep a very grounded, predictable routine, so it’s easy for me to fit in regular walks, drop-ins, enrichment sessions, and feeding times. Pet care isn’t something I squeeze in, it’s woven into how I live.

To make sure I can give your dog the safest and happiest experience, it’s really helpful to know a few things before we start working together. Please let me know: Their routine (feeding, walking, toileting times) Any behaviour quirks (shy, nervous, reactive, energetic, anxious, etc.) How they are with other dogs, people, bikes, children, livestock, etc. Any health issues, allergies, or medications What activities they love (and what they don’t!) Any training cues you use at home Triggers we should avoid (loud noises, certain dogs, traffic, new places, etc.) Whether they’re crate trained or prefer open space Any house rules: sofa access, treats, special boundaries Every dog is unique, so the more I know, the better I can tailor the visit or walk to support their comfort, safety, and wellbeing.
