Pet care experience
Friend of pets great and small!
I have always loved dogs, but now that I live in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs I find myself missing them, which is why I love working with Rover to get my doggie fix! I love all the different personalities each dog has and I do find myself drawn to the more skittish and timid ones because I’m good at comforting them, which I think stems from the fact when I was growing up we adopted a mutt from the pound who had been abused as a puppy and as a result was very shy. I also participated in a dog training program through 4-H for six years and I learned how to teach dogs obedience and showmanship. I’m comfortable with any domestic animal I met and while I was growing up I raised chickens and pigeons and I had the opportunity to handle all sorts of different livestock such as steer, horses, pigs, sheep and goats. While I haven't raised these animals I would still be comfortable caring for them if the need arose. I currently work with dogs at a kennel, but I find that most of my time there is spent cleaning and not as much one-on-one time with the pups as I would like. I’m mostly excited about meeting different dogs with Rover and I consider myself very calm and patient with animals. I also have experience with cats if you need help with your feline friends as well. When I first meet a dog I like to get down on their level so that they aren’t nervous. I generally prefer bigger dogs such as Shepherds or Huskies, but I’ve also become accustomed to working with smaller breeds as well. Since I would be staying in your pup’s home, I would keep their routine as similar to what they are accustomed to, including exercise and eating schedules. I love taking walks and visiting the dog park so if that’s part of their routine, all the better! I do love to visit local parks, but I’m also just as comfortable being a homebody, so if you have a senior dog we can take it easy with short strolls or just a lot of lounging and cuddle time. Above all, I would provide the same care to your pup that I would to my own dogs. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and I will keep your home in the same condition you left it. I took a break from housesitting in 2018, when I was working a retail job and just couldn't give pets the care they deserved. Now that I am in school and have ample free time, I am able to devote the time and care your pets deserve.

Mariah was AMAZING!! She stayed at our house for a week while we were out of town to take care of our 2 pets. She provided daily updates with photos and was responsive throughout the week. When we came home we couldn't believe how clean and untouched our house looked. We'll definitely use Mariah's services again if we need a sitter. She is the best!

My first hired pet sitter other than friends and she was FANTASTIC! Kept the house tidy and the pets well fed and exercised. We got updates basically everyday with photos. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND We will most likely be booking her for future trips!

Mariah was easy to communicate with and came to our home for a second meet and greet to make sure the dogs remembered her. Our dogs seemed to take to her quickly. We were generally pleased with her services with two caveats; she did not clean up after herself sufficiently. And we requested daily updates and did not receive those without prompting until the last 2-3 days of a 10+ day trip. Overall, everything else seemed to go well.

Great pet and house sitter! Cattledog friendly!!! My wife and I had always used a boarding service or a family member for our sitting needs. We were very apprehensive about letting a stranger into our home and take care of our puppy children. Mariah was super patient and walked us through the entire process so that we felt more than comfortable with the process. During the week we were on vacation Mariah maintained the balance of keeping us informed but not pestered with updates on our family. She sent multiple pictures and never hesitated to answer any questions that came up during our trip. It was when we finally arrived home that we knew our puppies had been well taken care of. They were energetic and did not have the anxious behavior that a pet shows when it's been neglected for long periods of time. As far as her ability to relate to animals I won't lie. She's very good. We have 2 high energy cattledogs that require lots of attention, exercise, and of course, TREATS! While our blue loves everyone, our red is a rescue and VERY picky about who she will not herd or continuously bark at. Our dogs are also "free range" and hate being kennelled. Mariah's qualifications shown through her ability to handle our baby girl. Oh... and our house was fine too hehe. Dishes washed, bed made, and pretty much untouched. In summary, Mariah is the best value on Rover. Thanks! Don and Breanna

Mariah stayed with our two large dogs for nearly two weeks and we couldn't have been happier! One of our dogs can be a behavioral challenge but we noticed how well he responded to her during the meet and greet and when we had a short overlap when returning from our trip. When we got home, the dogs were well exercised and relaxed. The house was clean and well kept. We received updates any time we asked for them. We would highly recommend Mariah!

Mariah is a reliable, wonderful and very responsible individual! She is dedicated and helpful, kind and caring of all the dogs she interacts with and knows how to handle and care for dogs well. She is worth the consideration.

Currently I am not working so I have ample time to look after your pets! I am looking for a remote job which I can do anywhere I go.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I like to keep a pets routine as similar to normal as possible, I know from experience that owners leaving can often stress a dog or cat out. As far as safety goes, I always keep food and medicines away from their reach even if a pet has not history of getting into stuff, better safe than sorry! I am also used to my own cat trying to dart out of my door so I am always mindful when I open and close doors so that pets won't get anywhere they aren't supposed to.
A typical day
I like to keep the routine as similar as possible when it comes to exercise and feeding schedules, but I do love to take walks and explore nearby parks if available and your pup is up for it! I’m also comfortable staying at home and having lots of cuddle time -- whatever makes your dog happiest!
